Snowbank

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

How is everyone's Snowbanks doing? Mine only bloomed during the winter in the gh. Monika, would it be one of the hardier ones to move outside if the suaveolens are ok outside?

Well, mine sure does not look like yours, LOL!! But it survived outside all winter and was just repotted last week. So I have high hopes. It is a beauty!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Mine has not yet bloomed, but it's hanging in there.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Mine has not bloomed,it sure likes the basement lights.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Mine survived out under a covered patio all winter. We even had night tempretures around 25 for about 10 nights straight. It is now starting to take off.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Guess I better drag mine out of the garage. I'm sure it would like to see some normal light for a change.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Mine is still in the greenhouse. It Y'd some time ago but no signs of buds that i can see. Still too cold outside for it. I don't have any more space in my passageway to put it in so will have to wait for warmer weather., Has been in high 60s so far this week, but right now we are experiencing som very welcome rain. Donna

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Mines OK,no Y yet.....

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I kept my whole plant last year and it had bloomed once, so maybe it will be one of my early bloomers. It sure is short though. Nice patio size, I guess.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Mine has never looked good since the day it arrived. It seems that it will look like its going to take off, then just gets puny looking again. Brown around the leaf edges, and the white certainly doesn't look like the white in the picture. More of a creamy yellow on the older leaves and pastel yellow on the new leaves. I'm disappointed in it, considering my other brugs are doing fabulously well...

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

The first one I purchased died, but I bought another one a few weeks ago and so far it is doing well. I kept it in the kitchen window until this week, and then I repotted it and moved it onto my covered patio. So far, so good.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I may just keep mine up on my porch, try not to burn it,mine has not Yed yet.

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

My Snowbank died about a month ago. Root rot. I won't be replacing her. I think she is just too finicky to grow. I like my Maya much better, she is 5 ft. tall and getting many buds on her now.
Edited to say, They were about the same age and snowbank was about 2 ft. tall when she croaked.

Orange Park, FL(Zone 8b)

I lost mine :(

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Where do you buy one of these plants?

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

'Maya', I find, is much more satisfactory, and there are no restrictions on sharing it.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Thanks John :)

Homestead, FL(Zone 10b)

Your Snowbank is stunning Liz. Mine died when it was only a few inches tall.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Brug Addict, you can find it here http://www.terranovanurseries.com/pages/plantsB1.html#brusb
I think Karchesky Canna had it last year as well.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Mine will probably be my first brug to bloom this year. Not a big one, but at least in good shape to begin the summer. I lost my Maya over the winter. Have always had trouble rooting her.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Gee Brugie, I have an extra and I am sending you a goodie box. Want me to add it?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

If you are sure you don't need it, I'd love it. Should say that I don't really need another brug, but that one is just special for some reason. Thanks!!

Mesilla Park, NM

This is the Snowbank that I got from MainTreeFrog a couple of months ago. It is also very creamy looking and it looks really well, have it in the porch in the shade.

Gourd that's nice, great job

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Mine didn't make it to TX. It didn't do very well in TN either, or it could have been the caretaker(that would be me) not taking good care of it. I just couldn't figure out what it needed, sun? shade? too much water, too little water......

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Mine seems to do better when I ignore it!

still no Y but I'm hoping there will be one this summer....

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Mine hasn't bloomed yet but it's still growing little by little.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Mine is still in the Greenhouse. It looks pretty good. Liz, I will bring mine outside about the end of June. I have a half shady place for her, where she is protected from sun and wind.. The white leaf edges will probably dry up in the sun like all white sprouts of Maya do.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Mine hasn't bloomed yet, but made it through the winter. We had a forecast of 38 for last night, but the actual low was 42. I don't know whether to believe them when they say that tonight will be 35, but will bring Snowbanks, and the last 2 versicolors inside, just in case they're right this time!

Snowbanks can't take as much sun as the other variegates, Sunset didn't burn at all when Snowbanks beside it was getted fried. I ended up putting Snowbanks in the middle of taller brugs, where it was partly shaded on all sides, and it was happy for the rest of the summer, even in temps over 100 for days and days.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Mine Snowbank is a 4 1/2' tall tree with a 4' canopy.
Right now a couple hundred blooms.
Colour a deep peach/orange this time.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

"Couple of hundred blooms"
Abutilon~ you are a miracle grower.
Pictures? Please ?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Wow, that sounds amazing. Yes, if you can, please post a picture.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh, to have the Alice touch!

Commerce, GA(Zone 8a)

Sure wish my Snowbank had made it! Got it from MainTreeFrog, but apparently the postal service damaged it during transit! Sure are pretty!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

My Snowbank from Joe Is doing great since I figured out she does not like bright light. Maya is faring well also and seems to grow a little faster than the SB. Neither one has Y'd yet.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Liz, That is a spectacular looking Snowbank *drooling*

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Oh, Alice! Picture please.

I have two starts in "small" pots, doing very well.

Mount Hermon, LA(Zone 8b)

Now you see what you folks have started? I bought my first little brug last year (which is doing 'poorly') and then I saw this one and HAD to have it! Found a nice-looking plant on eBay and bought it. I'll be a brug addict yet! :))

Beverly Hills, CA(Zone 10a)

I got an incredible Snowbanks & a Sang as a gift from Brinda. They came from Kartuz. I strongly suggest them as a reliable source for the more rare brugs. The Snowbanks & all other plants from maintreefrog have been a huge disappoinment & not what they were represented to be.
