I have Autumn Joy's I can trade. What are Egyptian Walking Onions?

Huntington, IN(Zone 5b)

Hello, I have sedum too, what is a walking onion? How may legs does it have?

knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

They are top setting onions, meaning the bulbs grow at the top and then when they get too heavy, they fall over and "walk" by planting themselves back into the ground. I am going to try to insert a picture here but if it fails, here is a link:

Here we call them winter onions. They are the first onions up and ready to eat in the spring.

They look like garlic. What do they taste like?

knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have never eaten them. I just had them planted with a bunch of unusual looking plants - and always liked them for their looks. I know that may sound weird. The ones I have to trade are about a foot and a 1/2 tall now and have not developed "top setting" bulbs yet. They grow *fast* and certainly are the first to come up...

Let me know if you'd like the Autumn Joy in trade for a couple of plants. I'd like to grow them, too.

Pins, they taste like green onions, but maybe a little stronger. Great to cook with like in an omlet. Much better than the green onions you buy at the market.
