Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

I walk into my kitchen and can't figure out what smells so good...oh! Duh! Whiskers decided to bloom for me in the kitchen, aphids, dropped leaves, north window and all. lol

Whiskers is awesome. She blooms non stop for me and get huge fast.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

How special!! Just for you! And how appropriate to have it smell like that in your kitchen!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Lemon cookies, I can't wait. Come on Whiskers.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Lemon cookies? Mine bloomed all last summer but the blooms were so high I couldn't smell them. For lemon cookies I'd climb a ladder to take a sniff.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Shoot, now I want some lemon cookies!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I love the fragrance from Whiskers. Just a nice brug all the way around. Nice picture too.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Yay Angie!
Now I'm dying for a lemon cookie...

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

LOL! Sorry guys, I didn't mean to make y'all hungry! :)

Liz - go buy a ladder ;)

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, Whiskers loves to bloom..mine has been blooming since before Christmas with no signs of letting up.I need to get it into the ground soon since its really outgrowing the 5 gal. bucket I have it in now. I have to water it every day..even with the cooler weather we have been having, so I KNOW the roots have taken over almost completely.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kris, do you have pictures? My Whiskers changed from yellow to white last year. Strangest thing I've ever seen.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

It sounds like you scared the poor brug, Brugie! What did you do to it??? LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It was strange....I kept one cutting and sent one to Renee and hers was white too. Both were basal shoots, so maybe that is where the problem came in.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

The pictures arent very good, but these are what I could find..

Here is another..(I really need a digital camera.)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Oh my, great pictures. I hope my cutting will bloom well for me this summer. I really do like Whiskers. Do you scan your pictures or have them on disc? Digitals are so much cheaper now than when I bought mine.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

I just scan them. I like the option of having prints so I can send them to my Mom (who wants nothing to do with computers) but the digital camera would be handier. Yes, they really have dropped in price. (Maybe if I hint loud enough...I DO have a birthday coming up..snicker!!)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You are starting to sound like me. The year I got my first computer I told Jim that it could be my Christmas present. Then I needed the camera, so I said it would be great for my birthday and I got it early. Three years later, I needed a new computer, so we are starting the circle again.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

I have always liked Whiskers I love the smell plus it was one of the first ones that ever bloomed for me that makes it special.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL..how funny..isnt it great being female?

Here is another picture of my brugs last summer, all lined up like little soldiers. I didnt have many and if you look real hard, you can see Whiskers blooming then, too..way in the back in the blue bucket..What a winner she is.

Nice healthy looking brugs. Did you plant them in the area that is bare last year or leave them in pots? I have to plant a lot in the veggie garden because I don't have enough pots for them all and besides, I'd have to buy a pallet of ProMix.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

No, I only have one in the ground from last year, the rest were dragged into the patio that was rigged up as a make-shift greenhouse (kinda). I had heaters there in case it dropped below freezing..the roof is that plastic stuff so there was planty of light for them. The other 2 pictures were taken out there. I planted daylilies in the bare area (part of it) some canna on the other end...all part of my plan to completely get rid of grass in the back yard. I am getting close..

Edited cause its late and I cant seem to type well once the sun goes down..LOL (thinking of a reason why I cant type when its daylight)

I also want to get rid of all my grass in the back yard. Looks like you got tons of blooms inside. Lucky you!

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Its great not to have so much to mow..my back yard was overwhelming at times, especially in this Texas heat..now all thats left is a small patch in back and whats in front..which will also be planted soon. Here is DH as we were finishing up the east side of the back..under and between the pecan trees.

I have to be the biggest fan of,"Less grass,More Garden"

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Every year, my beds get larger and the lawn gets smaller. If I get the pond I want to build in, there will be even less.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

It really never occured to me until I was taking a Composting class and the instructor told us that the most gardening money is spent on grass...seemed pretty wasteful to me..He was a big advocate of eliminating the grass, too.

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

The only thing that concerns me about eliminating ALL grass is resale value. Not everyone loves brugs as much as we do! lol :) ...that and I don't want to follow my dog around in the garden bed catching poop...

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Earthling, your instrustor never met me! LOL. Your soil looks great also. So loose and rich.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I can just see a backyard with no grass, just paths through and around the flowerbeds. That is my idea of a Garden of Eden yard. My problem though is DH. If it were up to him, we would have all grass and no flowerbeds. I've never figured that one out.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'll bet those lilies will be gorgeous this year. Hope you will post a picture when they are blooming.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

minniegrannie, if it would be up to my BIL, my sisters place would be all green painted concrete. Most of it is already LOL.
The lawn in my garden has been to reduced to 'two slices of bread ' LOL

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

mini, it's not just yours. I think green from property line to property line is the vision most men have of a yard. (please excuse me guys, I know it's not all men, but I've always been amused by guys and their lawns)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

When we bought this acreage, Jim told me to let him know which part was his to mow and he was going to call the cement plant and have them put green coloring in the cement. Of course, he still mows some, but it isn't his favorite job.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL....Kell..I guess he hasnt met you. I know I've spent a small fortune on just these brugs..first buying cuttings, then the potting soil, bigger and bigger pots, more and more pots, more and more soil, more and more greenhouses..sigh..almost had to get a second job here. The soil is not the native soil of DFW area..normally we have the black gumbo stuff which is hard as concrete when its summer time, then gooey, stick to your shoes, black tar stuff when its wet. What you are seeing is bags and bags of soil being raked over the layers and layers of newspapers we put over the grass that was left out there. (The lazy man's way of making garden beds) By this spring, it is ready to plant because the grass underneath is all dead and composted into nothing. I have daylilies planted in some of the area, canna at the other end. Luckily DH (Bob) is receptive to any ideas I happen to come up with.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Speaking of pots....did you all see this post? http://davesgarden.com/t/419096/ Well this guy brought me a load of them. We estimated that there are close to five hundred of them. Some I will use and many will go elsewhere. I'm sure they will all be used and appreciated. Thanks Bob.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh, Monika, I can't let DH see your post. That would give him another idea. He's talked for years about having Astroturf (artificial grass) installed. LOL

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I still have a few hundred pots left, seems that was what took up most of my day, scrubbing pots, where is Ramone when I need him?LOL!
