I recieved a surprise packet of seeds marked "Angel Trumpet" mix of Purple and White. See picture of seeds below.
Are these Brugmansia seeds? I kind of just tossed them aside, not thinking about what they could be. I kind of thought maybe they were Dactura ..... the color purple sent my mind in that direction.
Are there Purple Brugs???
The seeds were sent to me in 2004, but I don't know when they were collected. How long are Brug seeds viable (if these are Brug seeds).
Is there a thread someplace for growing Brugs from seeds? Is it easy? How long from seed to flower?
It never occurred to me to grow a Brug from seed, but if it's possible, I'd like to give it a try. I wouldn't want the seeds to go to waste ... ;-)
Growing Brugs from Seed
Im no expert of course but they look like Datura to me, i have some just like that that Ive planted for this year. Could be they just mislahbeled them under the presumption that Angels trumpet point up when they actualy point down, the trumpet flowers that point up are the devils trumpet. Just MHO.
I just visited the American Brugmansia website and saw that the picture they had of seeds looks nothing like what I have. The pictures did resemble another packet of seeds I recieved that were marked Datura meteloi.... (Hard to read) double lavender.
Picture of those below.
I wonder if I got both packets from the same trader and they were missmarked....
Tree Climber, your seeds are Datura seeds.
ahelms .................... are they both Datura seeds???
Thanks Eclipse,
I'm off to find out more about it.
That is a cool looking datura. I don't think I've ever seen it. Will have to check my seeds and see if it was one that MVR sent to me.
Shirley I have some otherwise.
Kyle, I just checked my seeds and nada.....have you started some? If so, maybe you could bring an extra to the roundup, or mail a few seeds, either way. Thanks so much.
