I need a primer on starting brug seeds. Some are on the way to me from poppysue. Perhaps a link?
Starting seeds
Let us know Betty, if you have any questions after you read this. I am actually getting good at starting seeds! LOL Last year, I was in a tizz over it! Even peeling them was hard for me.
I have the Jean Pasko in peat pellets for 2 weeks and still no sign of life. I water them religiously. Should I hang in there? I soaked them first, overnight.
Why are you watering them still? You need to plastic bag them then they need no water for ages! Fix your pellets with water. drain them so they are not sopping wet. leave the seeds on top of the dirt, slightly pressed in. Put container in a clear plastic bag. I wet the inside of bag then shake it out first. Then blow into bag to puff it up, twist it tight and put rubber band or something to close it. I use velcro so I can open and close it easily. The bag will make a mini GH. Put in warm sunny place. Mine are under lights.
Some seeds take awhile others are real fast! See if this helps.
I can't think of a clear plastic bag big enough to put the container with all the brug seeds in peat pellets. Any suggestions?
Cover them with plastic wrap. That new one that sticks when you press it works great.
I use tupperware in ziplock bags.
This year I bought a bunch of bags that are about 20 inches long. I don't remember how wide they are, but they even work for gallon pots with cuttings and are totally clear. I use them for lots of things.
I found some 33 gallon clear trash bags I use to root my alley trees in.
brugie.....so smart! You just have to move them out fast!
Once they are rooted, I don't need the bags anyway. Same goes for the seeds....as soon as they are germinated, I take them out of the bags and let them go to town under the lights.
Thanks, everyone
