banana hacking

Franklin, LA(Zone 9b)

today i finally got tired of looking at the poor banana and all of it's brown mushiness
lol
so i got after it with the pruning shears and hacked off all of the brown mushy bits
it seems to look a lot happier now, though i'm fairly certain in a few days all of the places that i cut are going to be brown and mushy...
i did take off a lot of the damaged bits from this winter

i'll post a picture when i get them developed
cant wait til i get a digital camera!!

Miss-kitty, I did the same thing today. Dead gingers, aroids, brugmansia and bananas. A huge pile of dead stuff. The yard is starting to look better.

I too hacked the heck out of mine, left them out in there containers lastnite trying to harden them off, woke up to 36 mph winds, poor tender leaves didn't stand a chance!!!

my nanner stayed out all winter
since i live in zone 9b, and the things grow wild here, it was no problem
hehe

I use to live in Bossier city La,2 different times,1960 and 1968,biggest mosquitos in the world live there, but the southern women made up for all the srcatching I did!!!LOL
I'd love to have your banana weed problem!!!
Forget to mention you got the song right kisses sweeter than wine but the late Jimmie Rogers sang it.

Yep, my bananas are ready for hacking too. All those dead, brown leaves have to go. But there are still plenty of green leaves and three big bunches of bananas developing.
