Looking for figs

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Hubby wants to grow more figs, we have a hardy fig, not sure what variety it is. Does anyone have any of these figs to trade. Rooted or unrooted would be fine.

Brown Turkey fig

Desert King fig

Hardy Chicago fig

Lattarula fig

Neveralla fig

Peters Honey fig

Petite Negri fig

Violette de Bordeaux fig

I have several plants to trade, named hosta, named daylily, perennials, let me know what your looking for I might have it.

Thanks,

Cathy

Hi, I could give you cuttings of Brown Turkey and Petite Negri. They need to be in pots in the house during winter to have fruit that will get ripe. I have a Brown turkey fig outside and it dies to the ground and what fruit that shows up does not have time to ripen.

I was wondering, just how do you grow these in our zones? I love figs, but never figured I could grow them.

We have 4 of this one variety that he's growing. One is planted in the ground and mulched heavily. 3 are growing in pots, in the fall after a hard frost he takes them out of the pots, digs a large hole in our veggi garden, he lays the figs down on the ground then covers the root ball with soil and covers the branches with leaves and compost from our compost pile. In the spring he digs them back up and they start to grow. We had a lot of figs last year. I'll talke a photo of them, we just put them back in pots and they are starting to sprout new leaves. The one in the ground takes longer to come back because he cuts it down and it comes back from the root, and it gets fruit late in the season. A friend of ours used a refrigerator box to cover his fig tree, filled it with leaves at it did really good this winter. He didn't cut it back. The first couple of years we had our fig trees we did bring them in the house to go dormant, but they are to big now to bring into the house.

What are you looking for in a trade? Thanks, Cathy

I would like your bluish daylily - "Blueberry breakfast" and a cutting of your hardy fig. My figs are starting to sprout in the house too.
