At what age should I get my Stormy spayed

The vet says anytime now. She is five months old, but still sort of puny. She weighs 30 lbs, but is tall and lanky. I have heard that if it is done too soon there would be a possibility of it affecting her ability to control her bladder.
Maggie was spayed at five months, but she had a tummy. Stormy is all muscle and lean. I just hate to see her being cut on such a small area.
