A close view of the blooms showing the star-shape in the center. The image is fairly well focused. The edges of the petals near their bases that appear a little blurry are hairy. Shown in the middle of March. (San Antonio, Tx.)

So happy to see your photos -- I am zone 7b in Richmond, VA, and have seen little of the plant here.
Am planting today; they are ready to bloom.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

I am glad that I thought to take photos of this lovely plant. They appear in landscapes all over San Antonio. They bloom from early to mid-spring here and are blooming prolifically right now. From the research I have done, I believe they will be hardy in your area. You are planting them just in time. :o) Besure to mulch them before cold weather returns, just to be sure. Thanks for your comments.

Great photos htop
It looks as if I may have found another plant I've never heard of that might grow in SW France?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks, philomel. These are wonderful evergreen plants that bloom prolifically early in the season and for quite a long time. I don't know if they will grow in SW France, but it would be worth trying them. Maybe someone in your area has tried them and will share his/her experiences with them. Thanks for your comments.

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

My plants survived a very wet summer here -- I planted them well above the soil line, mulched them lightly at the time, and again in July when the previous mulch had disipated.
In mid Oct I'll mulch them again for the winter, and hope they continue to thrive!
I've seen them blooming prolifically in the Raleigh NC area, just nowhere here in Richmond.

I am happy to hear they are doing well in beautiful Richmond. I am sure you will be looking forward to their first blooms in spring. Thanks for your comments.
