Just Me and My Shadows

Northern California, CA

My two Charles Grimaldi brugs spent the winter in the ground and out in the elements. Survived (with a few broken top branches) two storms with 65+mph winds. The foliage that remained was bright chartreuse, but with two weeks of temps in the 80's they are coming on strong.

It sure looks healthy Happenstance.

Gosh, blooms ready to open and I won't even have a brug outside for another 5 or 6 weeks. Congrats. This must be a pretty tough brug to withstand all that torture.

Wonderful -- thank you for the pic! Now I have a better idea of what mine will look like shortly :)

By the way, my Dats from your seeds are loaded with buds and about to bloom. Thank you again!!! Gretchen

Boy your buds look huge! Aren't the color of the leaves of CG odd? I am not sure I like it. I am always trying to green them up.

It won't be long now and you will have beautiful blooms.

The first day of Spring found my Charles Grimaldi in bloom....brought a smile to my face. More of a lemon yellow at this time of year that it's golden yellow.

Write your message then go to browse, put pic in, go to preview. Pic and message should show, then send.

Werewolf, just go to post a reply below my post. See the second window? it says: Image (JPG, PNG, or GIF): right above it. Click on browse and go to the file where on your hard drive you save your pictures. Click on the picture you want and that will put the web address in that box. It will then come up when you hit SEND!

Oh dear, I can't wait. Doc brought me a couple of brugs yesterday and one should open in a day or two. Can't wait to have a bloom to smell.

Still playing with evening shadows....really just an excuse to go out and get another whiff of the aroma.....

Glad you all like my pictures.....so many prettier brugs to come I am hoping. I have lots of cuttings from DG'ers that are doing well and will update their progress as they begin to perform. (Fingers crossed).

The only cutting that has buds is one of my Double White ones that I put in the GH last fall as a backup. The mother plant spent the winter in the ground and is beginning to get new leaves, but no sign of buds yet.

These CG blooms are MUCH bigger than last year....I'm amazed. The open bloom in the picture at 9:22 this morning is 14" from where it attaches to the branch to tendrils. The one in this image is 15" ! I don't think I measured them last year, but I know they weren't this big. (Gotta be the liberal dose of cow manure I used on all my beds last fall and again this spring.)

Beautiful. I had blooms in the GH and now that they are out not a bloom in site. Bummer.

This is how I've felt since the end of October. Not a bloom in site. Can't wait for my first ones.
