RK seedling with Y and crooked growth

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

This RK seedling has a nice Y. During the winter, the trunk bended toward the light.

This can be corrected to some extend by potting.

Can you tie it to a stake to straighten it, or has the stem gotten too woody?

The stem has gotten to woody. I have cut the rootball in order to be able to tilt the plant to correct the growth.

Thanks for that information Monika. I wouldn't have thought to do that.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have done this with tree roses that go askew. It works great.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I had to do that to some brugs that I planted when we moved. It worked great. Thanks Monika!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I have a few in pots that will need this done to them. Thanks Monika.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Looking good now, Monika.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I did that with one last year and it sure did the trick. Thanks Monika!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Boy what I would give to walk in that GH!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Looks good Monika . . can't wait to see the blooms on this one. It appears that your weather is getting better.

Just for this week Nanny. Snow is predicted to be back next week.

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Monika, can't wait to see your plants bloom again this summer.
I have used your method in the past and it has worked well. Even put splints on above the Y after plant fell over and laid on ground for two days- it is amazing how quickly the stem twists turn toward the light.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

I had to do this with one, it was top heavy, from Seedpods. Works like a dream.

More good information on this thread. I've always planted crooked plants so they are standing as straight as possible. Have had some that were pretty bad to, but this method will definitely give better end results than just leaving them as they were.
