Old Faithful

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

These pictures were taken late last Fall when everything else was going dormant and hardly anything was blooming. I just now finished the roll of film today, so I finally can post a picture of the one I call Old Faithful. It was supposed to be Pink Frosty, but as you can tell, it isn't. LOL Does anyone know which one it really is?

Whatever it is... it's a beautiful brug! Nice pictures Mini :)

I think I see serration on some of the leaves, and that could mean Dr. Suess, but I have CG and it had some serration too. I think "Old Faithful" sounds like a good name anyway.

Shoot, forgot to say what a pretty yard you have.

Well, thanks for the compliment, but the yard was looking pretty straggly by that time. You just couldn't see everything. LOL

Kell, that's why I call it Old Faithful. When I purchased it locally 3 yrs. ago, I took it out of its one gal. pot and replanted it in a 5 gal. one. I then sunk it pot and all in the flowerbed. It freezes back every Winter, but always comes back from the roots. This Winter it didn't even freeze all the way back. It is already about 2 1/2 ft. tall. It nevers blooms until Fall though. I'm hoping since it didn't freeze all the way back this year, it will start blooming earlier. I just wish that it was pink though.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Plant a pink one right next to it! LOL I just love the pictures when 2 colors of brugs intertwine. Maybe if yu fertilizelike crazy it will get going sooner. It is hot where you are though in the sumer isn't it?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Kell, it does get very hot here in the Summer. That's probably why it doesn't bloom until late. I never thought about that. They don't like that much heat, do they? Well, I guess there is nothing I can do about that, darn it.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Can you place any of your brugs in pots and in the shade? That will help some.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I really have a lack of shade in my yard. I have one spot in the backyard, but half of the bed is hidden from view except from the street. I could maybe fit 3 brugs in the space where I could see them, and those will probably be the variegated ones. I had never put 2 and 2 together before today about the heat and too much sun. When I grew a few of the common variety brugs at our old house, I always left them in big pots and placed them in the flowerbeds. We had a gazillion huge live oaks and the beds were built around them. That is probably why they bloomed so much better for me there. Duh!

Sylvia, MOVE!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

That's what our son says. He lives in LA and loves California. I wish we could move. After living on 11 acres for 17 yrs., I hate living right at the front of our subdivision. Now I have to watch when I bend over to weed. LOL
