When I was talking on the phone with Carol7 a little bit ago, I looked over and saw this huge growth on Sarah's left elbow. I'm always playing with the girls and taking their pictures, and I don't know how I could have missed this!
It doesn't seem to be causing her any discomfort, and it is pretty loose. It doesn't appear to be the result of an infected bite or sting, either. It's about the size of a plum or large egg.
I'm hoping it's just a fatty tumor of some sort. I know that fluid can build up if a bone is chipped in a joint, too; maybe it's just a little bone fragment from her elbow causing her body to send fluid there to cushion the joint.
I'm taking her to the vet at 5pm today. She's been acting strangely with me this week, afraid of me. I can't figure out why, other than the fact that she had some episodes where she peed in the house. I didn't punish her - I figured this was way abnormal for her. When I took her to the vet last week, he said her urine was full of crystals. He has her on an antibiotic as a preventative (the crystals are sharp and can leave her more open to infection) as well as on estrogen to help with the mild incontinence.
I thought maybe she didn't like the training we've been doing, or that the antibiotic she's on might make her feel sick, but seeing this thing on her elbow is scary; we hope it's just a fatty tumor and it isn't all related and bad news.
