This name "Cereus horridus" is not listed in the Cactus Family book, which usually lists all the validly published (and some non-valid) botanical names as of 2001 for Cactaceae
Is this a newly named species?
and If so, where is it published besides on this cd-rom?

This link shows a photo of what they call C. horridus which is vine-like.

And this link of "Cereus horridus var. macrocarpus"
http://www.horticopia.com/hortpix/html/pc1410.htm
shows a completey different looking cactus, columnar type like this photo you have posted.

Hey, that's what the label on the plant identified it as.. probably another monstrose Cereus peruvianus (or whatever the correct name is now).

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9b)

So, what do we do now?

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9b)

It might be a Cereus but it is certianly not monstruosed and it dosen't look like C. repandus. I don't know what it is.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Geoff, did you ever have a chance to check out the Horticopia link Xenomorf provided? It does look similar to yours. Thoughts?

Acton, CA(Zone 8b)

No, I hadn't... but I have to agree... looks excactly the same... can you move the pic?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank you kindly, sir ;o)

Actually, I just changed the name of the existing entry - you had created it, and had the only image thus far.

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9b)

I was also curious where the original name came from, (Cereus horridus),
Like, where has it been published, in which publication.
Or, If this is a newer species, etc.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I can't answer for Palmbob, but logically speaking if there is a Cereus horridus var. macrocarpus I would assume that prior to that, there was a C. horridus.

Acton, CA(Zone 8b)

No idea... the Huntington calls it that, but no clue where they come up with some of their names.
