I miss the warm days of my tropical summers. LOL in Iowa!!LOL Seems like only a short time ago I tore all of these out for winter. :-)
Memories of Summer past..
Eclipse: Do you think we will ever be that green and tropical looking again. After todays snow, it is a long distant memory.LOL.
I know 58F 0n Saturday then 10 inches of snow today...Ya gotta luv it!! NOT! LOL
yeah, and then ya turn around and send it this way!
I really didn't need anymore snow.....
Wow, Eclipse, what a truly beautiful yard. Very inspiring! Thanks for posting that:-)
CC: Do you think winter is ever going to end. We ended up with 15" of snow. I hope you don't get that much out of this system. I know you have way more snow than we do.
Eclipse, you can move in next door to me anyday. Bring your garden, it's gorgeous!
It just started snowing aat lunch time.....who knows how much we'll get...
the bad part is that it will trigger LAKE EFFECT!!!!
I love the color and the fullness and the richness, and who's that handsome guy? LOL! Great picture!
Good to see you again eclipse. What is that purply plant in the banana behind you?
I wanna know what the purty purple thing is....
Love that garden...you are my idol!
Looks like a Thai Castor? What is it Kyle, sure good to see your yard again!!
Got plans for this year already?
Good shot Kyle.Is that purple plant a young "Red Spire" castor
bean?
Gorgeous Bed!
Front and Back!!
I still find it hard to believe that it's in zone 5!
Ric
Clare..the guy in the pic is Raul my gardener...LOL no its me.! :-)
And the purple plant is Red Spire castor bean.Didn't get very large last year. This year there will be more brugs and less clutter. Some new cannas, and a few new hibiscus. The flower show this weekend will have a past president of the American Hibiscus Society there selling plants and giving a talk.I got my eye on some new ones.he sells them also at www.exotichibiscus.com
Are you coming to the show here Kyle?
root, no I won't be there.I hate the way 3 flower shows are all on the same weekend. Chicago, Kansas city, Des Moines. :-(
Just had to post to tell you that is one gorgeous bed Eclipse. I can appreciate the amount of work that you must have to get that effect. Well done!
Beautiful garden front and back and you too. Sure doesn't seem like you could grow all those tropical plants in your area. I am also in zone 5 a-b. I love cannas but so far haven't found the right location to keep them over winter. Donna
Eclipse, I was so glad to see your pictures today. I am taking a stab at a tropical bed this year, and your photos have helped me to see the concept that I had in my mind. Your mixture of plants and heights works so well together, and has given me a better idea of how to integrate my plants. If my bed looks half as nice as yours, I will be thrilled.
As always, I love to see your pictures. Hoping that this will have been our last snow and we can get outside before long. Can't wait to see your new flower bed creations this year.
Well, don't suppose y'all wanna hear it's in the 80's here this week...........ducking!! Beautiful as always Kyle.
"eyes"
*le sigh* I remember when you posted that pic last time. Still the most beautiful flower bed pic I've seen here on Dave's. Stunning. Long live the clutter! :)
I'm drooling over your gorgeous pictures......tropicalesque at its finest!!! :~)
Gorgeous and no doubt it will be even prettier this year.
Kyle,I keep my eye out for stuff you gotta have here,if you will cover DM for me,LOL!!!
Deal!.... ;-)
Kyle, last year, you had some pretty caladiums, like I had never before seen. I do not remember the kind or much about them, but do you remember the kind you had? I am sure you had many, but these were in a pot, and I meant to ask you about them then. Course you had many beautiful pots too. These were ruffled, and large.
Kyle, I love that you have crotons in the bed. I'm going to steal that idea from you. Thanks for your pics, love the garden.
Liz, last year, I stole Kyle's pot ideas and they were so pretty. The problem I have here with pots is that it gets too hot in about July for pots, but they are so pretty.
Roz I had about 10 kinds of caladiums last year..I'll see if I can figure out which ones they were! :-)
Kyle, they must have been the lance leafed ones, the ones with frilly looking leaves, and I may be wrong but I think one was little miss muffett, who had splotches of red and pink and green on her? Mystic gave me some great caladiums , I think from hong kong or someplace, and they are pretty too, but it does not look like they are going to come back. I had never seen such frilly big leaves on caladiums like on yours.

Also, Kyle, I cut back my fern tree, all the dead fronds, but it seems to just sit there; maybe the cool front we had the past few days?
