We watched the DVD of "Good Boy" last night with my folks and my mother-in-law. I have not laughed so hard at a movie in ages! We were all laughing. And I cried, too. I'm a sap for dog and people stories. ;)
The dogs are so believable because they're real dogs which have only had CGI (computer generated imagery) done to their mouths so they appear to be speaking. The producers strove to make the dogs remain natural in appearance, and it really worked.
The people were excellent in the movie, too. So many times animal-centered movies have such lackluster performances by the humans, but this isn't the case with "Good Boy".
The DVD has a lot of neat extra's, including a "Dog-Umentary" on the making of the movie and a segment by the head trainer on teaching your dog certain behaviors. It's a must-see for any dog lover! The behind-the-scenes part was especially fascinating, because it shows how the actors had to work with multiple trainers calling out cues to the multiple dogs.
Of course, I thought of Morph and her Italian Greyhounds every time I saw that cute Nelly on screen.
