It is wonderful to see these plants!! :)

No, Liz: Don't stop. Looking out here at the wetlands and wondering why I bother thinking there will be something wonderful growing later on; I need the inspiration! Beautiful, and to think just around the corner.
Thank You. Dawn

Beautiful Liz. What is the tree on the right in the last picture. I love it.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

The low one? It's a weeping Japanese maple.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Wow, it is a beaut. Thanks.

Liz,
Seeing your photo makes me want to really spend the money this year and buy a Weeping Japanese maple. For the last few years I have wanted one..but am too afraid to take the risk as they are quite expensive, and not very hardy.
I do have an upright Bloodgood Japanese Maple I bought 3 years ago. I cover it with burlap in the winter. So far so good.

Your lower garden photo is just lovely..I notice you are beside water..lucky you.
Cheers,
Carol

Hi Starzz, I just found this link for the red maples. Maybe you can find one that you like and is hardy for you.

Goodness Liz, aren't they gorgeous. Almost makes you want to dig up everthing and grow only Acer. Of course, you need a few sheckles--but my motto has always been "Spend it and it shall come". Good Luck Starzz and let us know.

I like your way of thinking Sunrize.
Do you have a new grandbaby yet?

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

Hmm...I was thinking of acers in zone 3 (funny girl, must be the paint fumes) and then it started to snow. (This just after we put a bunch of transplants in the sunroom/greenhouse.) I can hear the little gas furnace justing a running through looonies and toonies and.....

My sister has a laceleaf Japanese maple that has survived for over 10years..but it is in a very sheltered postion beside a little pond built into a sloping hill.

It's beautiful Starzz. I love the rich colour.

It is beautiful, Starzz! Yes, I have a lovely new grandaughter on Mar 24 @ 2:12 AM. 7lb 8oz, Black curly hair. She is so far nameless--so a bit hard to announce. She has been known as 'Pip' since her conception, so that's what we call her until they can agree on a name.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Congratulations Sunrize!! How exciting! We need a pic of Pip

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

No name yet, grandmama!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Congratulations Sunrize.......we are looking forward to seeing her! :D

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

Congrats; they are great - a joy for the heart.

Oh how wonderful for you Sunrise.
Congrats to all the family!

Dawn, don't you have some news for us lot??????????????

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Yes, Elaine, finally I do. Her name is:
Isla Frances
(say eye-lah) means little island Celtic
Frances is after my mother
and she does what every baby does, cries, ingests, eliminates, and sleeps. Isn't that a miracle! I have yet to see a pic, though.
