narcissus bulb fly eats more...

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

i was romping around the internet and ran across the article, so timely for us now.
this fly, that looks like a bumblebee but it is not! and does nasty things to our daffodils, lilies, scilla, amaryllis, iris, and more bulbs.
this article gives you some info, shows you a picture and makes a few suggestions on how to eliminate them.
i have a neighbor about a block away that lost there daffodil garden, to what we believe, was this problem. so i'm a bit worried this year. time will tell.

Hi debi! I remember you everyday when I water a pot. That pot is housing those bulbs, slender whitish bulbs. Those were sent by you last year and the packet did not have a label. The first one that emerged is now about a foot long with slender long leaveson a stem-like thing. Others are now making their way out and I think every one of them are coming up. But I wonder what they are? Remember what they are? You had packed them in some blackish light powder-like stuff. Can you tell me what they are? I had written a few mails but they don't seem to have reached you - regarding some information I had wanted. I thought of 'catching you up' here. Those bulbs seem to be doing well and it is the beginning of summer here and your guidance will help me keep them in good shape through summer which ends May.
