I bought one and it is really a pretty small tree that looks like a fern, but when I repotted it, it drooped and looks like it is not going to make it. Was doing just fine, but when I moved it into the gh to the potting table, it began to droop before I even touched it; now re potted, it is really droopy. Finicky plant, and maybe I don't like it so much after all.
Anybody know anything about tree fern?
Roz, they need high humidity and need the trunk sprayed with water every few days. They hate WET feet but absolutely need moisture.....moist not wet and well draining soil with peat moss in it.Hard water is bad for them too since they grow in acid conditions.Finicky..but gorgeous when older. :-)
I have Tasmanian Tree ferns (Dicksonia antartica) that wilt quickly when they dry up. Once wilted, those fronds don't recover, but it usually doesn't take long for new ones to come out.

Thanks Eclipse and dogbane; looks like I have a plant that , if I do not kill it, will be really pretty. I liked it because it is different looking. Poor fronds, all shriveled, but like you said dogbane, new ones are coming out. I think I just need to keep it close to a hose and maybe it will survive. We do have soft well water, and a very acidy soil. I will probably keep it in a pot to bring it in this winter. Would that be a good idea?
