So how does one get started growing Brugs? I have never seen them for sale anywhere locally....but than again maybe I didn't know what I was looking at when and if I did see them.
I have just started growing Datura from some seed I received via a trade (90% germination....so I have nearly 50 seedlings)
but would love to try my hand at a brug....just have to smell that wonderful scent you all are raving about :-)

So how does one get started?
Thats great germination on your Dats!
Brugs would be best started from seed,as cuttings can be a little harder to find right now,you will have to have seeds that are crosses, since they do not come true like Dats.
I wish I had some seeds I could pass on,because they really do smell great.
Welcome to DG,I'm sure someone will come along and help you,we really like to pass this addiction on!
Hang in there, they will be available soon for you.
I have some seeds you are MORE than welcome to! I also would like to caution you, on recieving ANY cuttings, just as a friendly warning, Im sure as you have seen, Strangelbrand, (or not) is a very big concern right now.
I think, the seeds are just as good, if not better than a cutting.. if you get started soon with the seed, you will more than likely get a bloom by summer. Seeds are SO fun to grow anyway, you get to watch them from the get go, and you just never know what you will get. Plus no one in the world will have that one brug you are growing at that time.. its ALL yours! Just some things to keep in mind.
Another plus, (for the hybridizers)... by keeping them informed on the process of your baby, they are rewarded too! Its just such a neat thing!
LMK if you would like some seeds, I bought them from cala's, and she is the hybridizer, so you are bound to get some AMAZING ones, I just got a little carried away, and ended up with TOO many seeds.
Do a search on starting seeds, and you will find a good handful of different ways to start them, everyone has a way they prefer. Good Luck!
Edited to add... please know this is all MHO.. what you chose to do is of course up to you.

Well Shelly I will gladly take you up on your offer of seeds.
I dearly love starting most of my plants from seed anyway...just love the whole process of watching something so beautiful and so wonderous come from a tiny seed.
I'll email you my address, and you can tell me what you like as far as postage and compensation. :-)
Thanks a bunch!

Oh Shelly gave a great speach and info on starting from seed!
I am glad you are taking her up on that & so nice of her to offer too:)
I have grown some of Cala's seeds and her crosses are FABULOUS!
Marc,
When you start your seeds, be patient. I started mine over a month ago and have only 2 seedlings. But I was told to just keep on keeping on, and even a few months from now I might get a surprise with more.
Marc i sent you some seeds with the datura seeds i sent you good luck with them they are from no names but hopefully will make great plants yellow x deep pink
Oh how exciting! Thank you Springsong! I'll be on the lookout for them :-)
Oh and I could careless if they are 'no names' or 'named' varieties......I wouldn't know the difference anyway :-)
Marc
