jodyc,
here is a link on planting bulbils, from liliums.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/basics/techniques/propagation/lilies/lilies1.shtml
i did a google search. go to http://www.google.com and put in how to grow lilies.
here is another link on propogating lilium you might find helpful.
i've never grown lilium from seed but although it is a lengthy and patient process, i would love to see the results.
seeds will not grow true from seed, bulbils and scales will. from what i read you need to plant seed right away, it doesn't hold over well.
hope this helps and have fun

Daylilies sprout pretty easily. I soak mine in water for a couple of days and then plant. They usually start coming up in a week or so.

Most irises and lilium need a cold period. The seeds are big enough to do in damp paper towels sealed in a zip-loc bag. That way you can stick them in the fridge and won't have them in the way. It's easy to check on them too. 4 weeks in the fridge should be enough for a cold stratification. You can pot them when you take them out or leave them in the paper towels until they sprout.
