Gourd sent me my first 2 cannas last December, Black Knight and Louis Cotton. They are planted one on each side of my datura. I believe the one in the picture is Black Knight. It has just gone crazy growing tall, about 3 feet now. The other I believe to be Louis Cotton is only about 10 inches tall but has sent out about 5 surrounding shoots.
Anyway, the picture and question for today, is that thingy in the middle another leaf shoot or am I finally looking at my first bloom in the making?

By the way Gourd, if you are watching I found some interesting crotons, wanna look?
Cannas - Is this a bloom in the making?
Sure looks like bloom to me. Love the leaves on that one.
Thanks Brugie,
I'll post a picture when she shows herself.

Hi Molly,
They look good.. all of my crotons froze.. it just gets too cold for them here. I'm in the (Twilight Zone of California)..lol. it gets too hot, then it gets too cold.. what to do? Louis Cotton is a small canna so it won't get tall, also, the color is wonderful, wait till that blooms. I moved all my Black Knight cannas. It looks like a bloom to me too.. Your area is warmer than mine, my cannas are just now starting to poke through.
Molly - those look like the are going to be absolutely gorgeous. Love the colors on the leaves!
Now all the cannas are at some stage of bloom, I am very happy, but, Louis Cotton has made a strange "thing" any idea what this is? The bloom finished on this stalk and left this in its wake. I have some of these on another canna I got from Touch of Nature. But it doesn't happen on all of them and I have some 12-14 cannas now.
That is a seed pod.......some cannas make seed and some dont......when it turns brown the seed is ready they are pew size and a drak brown in color almost black...
