I have a box of "Uncle Sam" cereal that's been sitting in my cupboard for over a year. Can't stand the feel of "twigs and bark" as a food stuff and switched to Fibre One.

Would I be endangering any birds/squirrels etc if I crushed the flakes down to tiny bits and put them in the feeder? or should I just compost it?
