Crop 1

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

These all survived a heater failure this winter, they lost their growth tips and all foliage, but they are coming right out of it. These are the first round of Susie's seedlings, this next week I post a picture of Kell's babies!

Where are you keeping your magic wand?

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I can tell I am going to have to bring the truck on our night raid!!!

They sure don't look like they went through any stress!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh yes, they look good. Especially after what they have been through. I would never have know that they had experienced stress like that.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Well, I have to say I was pretty surprized myself, I actually went into the office sat down and cried when I found the mess. I wondered how in the world am I going to tell Susie they froze! She was a trooper, all she said was, don't worry about it, we got more where those came from. All of the brug's got hit really hard, but the seedlings I never thought would recover, they were tiny then. My iochroma's looked terrible, they were sticks in a pot, but they look great and are starting to flower again. Root yes! Bring a truck! I need the room! Here is my new toy, Scott will never learn, if I go look I buy!

Nice Toy!! I am same way, when I look, I know what I want ,and have it already set in my mind!I buy!!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL My DH buys the trucks and cars and I buy the plants. Boy, do I ever buy the plants. I'd never want to sit down and figure up exactly how much I've spent on plants in the last 5 yrs. or so. He could probably buy a new truck. LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You are some lucky girl Tracey on all counts!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Nice truck. I kinda wish I had bought a black one instead of white, but I don't think it has to be washed as often. Not something I enjoy doing.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Tracey, you have your hands full with all those seedlings! And I just can't wait to see what you get!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

They should turn out to be some sturdy brugs, after what they have been through. Probably end up being Giants!

Wow! They look great! I'll bet you can't wait for summer with all the blooms in your future!!!!

sheila

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

They look awesome ...and I froze some babies too.......

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I do like your new truck.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

You have the magic touch Tracey. Everything looks just great with what they have been through. I agree ... nice truck!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

CC,I do not know how you didn't freeze all your babies!!
Hang in there CC!! Spring is coming!!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Your children look wonderful. Truck is nice too.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

She really does have the magic touch huh, Deb? Babies are so cute!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Yes Kell ... she does! Everything looks so nice and healthy and raring to go!

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Tracey, I have a alarm system that goes off when the temp in the greenhouse goes down to 35 degrees. Not sure what it's called, I'll have to ask hubby. But it has saved my plants several times, the alarm goes off in my bedroom, we have a back up propane heater if this happens. You can set it at what ever temp you like and it will let you know there's a problem with your heater.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Great looking plants, Tand beautiful truck.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

They look very good Tracey! It seems, that you have warmer temps in you Gh, because they are quite big already.
I admire your truck but I have no drivers license. The rubber trees besides the road have not been planted yet for me LOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Monika that took me a second....

LOL

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Good one Monika!
Tracey, tell me ~ how low did your temps go for how long when the power went out?

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

OMG it took me a minute too, I even went back to look at the picture for what might look like a rubber tree!!!!!!! Monika don't feel bad, I have bounced off a tree or two! The greenhouses are much warmer now especially, we have so many plants to get up in size to sell, by April 15th. I know you all won't tell on me, so....... after the greenhouse freeze incident, I turned up the heat every time I went by it! We have those alarms, but unknown to me, they were not hooked up! CC does a wet chicken really get mad? Cause I was madder than one!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Boy, I need some of those rubber trees Monika. LOL!! Do they sell them full sized and ready to use. I'm afraid Jim is going to go right through the garage door one day.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Yup,a wet hen is a MAD hen!!!!!

I was confused when my babies froze, there was so much snow I never saw what the problem was till I moved the throth.....even after I thought I fixed it and moved the survivors to the middle I started loosing more plants....turns out that some how...no clue how ,but the screws that held the furring strips (that held the plastic down)all snapped, and I mean snapped...I don't know if it was the weight of the snow or the heat from the GH next to -25 temps the board warped and snapped the screws.........

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Wow you sure are going to be busy this summer

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

-25 ?? Fahrenheit?? Amazing that they look as wonderful as they do. You must have an angel on your shoulder.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

She does Miss Lizzy! A beautiful angel watching over all her little angels! LOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

My little angel is the local propane company!LOL

Of course ,for what I paid them this year they should be sending me Christmas cards

Dripping Springs, TX

Good job Tracey! The babies look really loved.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

CC, I would demand a christmas present not card! LOL

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

Tracey what is your secret your babies look so good and are so big keep up the good work beautiful;!!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Bump for Eva

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Tracey, how quick do you pot up your seedlings? I have some that are in about quart pots, and they need watering so frequently in those now that it has warmed up, but they aren't root bound yet.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I had to do some serious pruning on some of my seedlings today. The problem.....I needed more room and by pruning, I could get them closer together. When I think about starting them from seed and getting them to bloom, taking cuttings and wintering them over and fighting bugs in between doing all the fertilizing, etc.....I've decided that brugs are a high maintenance plant. LOL!! Wouldn't have it any other way.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

I went from cell packs to a 10" pot with these, and to a standard gallon with crop two. Some time very soon they are going into Seven gallon pots where they will stay till they bloom, because like you I am having to water very frequently. This picture was a few weeks ago, they are about double this now, taking a camera today!

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Okay, well, I think I will just skip the quart pots then, and go directly to gallons from the seedling pots.
