Hi!
I am new here, and relatively new to brugs (not quite a couple years) and feel kind of out of my league here. So if this is old-hat to y'all please forgive me! But I have never seen a bud do this before! It's a Dr Seuss.
Is this an art nouveau bud or what! :-) The plant has about 6 of these going right now. It has never flowered before, and I have nursed it from a 3" cutting, so I'm really on pins & needles.
Anyway! I think this is just gorgeous. Thanks for letting me share!
Art Nouveau
Welcome to Daves hermitess... What a fantastic picture. It really does look like something out of a Dr. Seuss book LOL!!
I love the curls on the tendrils - - be sure and post an updated photo here when it opens all the way.
Welcome hermitess. Great picture. Keep us updated on the bloom.
Welcome Hermitess. Look how those tendrils are curling. Thanks for sharing ... keep us posted.
Very pretty and welcome! Everyone loves seeing photos!
Fantastic pic. Looks almost like an alien space ship ready for landing?
Let's see another pic when it opens.
The end result will be beautiful. Welcome to the brug forum. Hope to see you here more and be sure to show us pictures when your blooms are fully open.
Hello and welcome. I hope you plan to visit us often and show us many pictures. We have so many people here that are so knowledgeable and are always ready to help by answering any questions that a member has. We want you to feel at home here!
Welcome to DG & the Brug Forum!
Wonderful curling tendrils....can't wait to see the bloom once it opens....please keep us posted!! :~)
Welcome to Dave's.Please post a pic when it opens.
WELCOME!!! I just love those tendrils. Too beautiful. Do all the 6 buds on this Dr. Seuss do that or did you just luck out with this one? It would be cool to breed this into a brug.
Please do not feel anyone here is out of your league. We all came in at this at a beginners level. Some of us still are there! Not everyone wants to be a total brug nut and just like our family atmosphere in this forum. If you read all the threads and feel free to ask questions, you will soon know what we all know!
Welcome!!!
This does make me wonder where the name Doc Suess came from??
We love pics,so keep us posted!
Root.
Great pic!! And welcome to DG and the brug forum!
Hi! Wow! Thank you all for the welcome!
All the buds on this plant have the curli-cues. Is this really unusual for a Dr Seuss? Could it be that it is not a Dr Seuss?
Here's the thing... I went a little hog-wild on Ebay in autumn 2002 and found myself with dozens of cuttings of various varieties... I guess about 75% of them survived and we've gone from 4" pots to 5 gallon pots in that time! But it's possible a seller mis-labeled, or I did. I didn't know what I was doing, some tags were lost entirely over time (oops). Bottom line, when I say it's a Dr Seuss, I should say it's labeled as a Dr Seuss :-)
Some of my other babies have bloomed, but this is the first Dr Seuss to come this far. I have never seen curls like that before!
Hallo and welcome hermitess. Please post a picture, when the flower has opened.
LOL!!! I love it!!!
I have to watch mine closer next year!
I sure am enjoying those trendils! :o) And you saying it smells "devine" makes me hope I get some blooms soon! :o)
WOW, that's neat. I love that. If it's Seuss, it will get darker each day.
I can't wait to see more pictures!
I have never smelled a Brug yet and can't wait to get a bloom.
In the meantime,I'll enjoy everyone elses and only imagine the aroma!
Welcome from another Newbie! Beware, this is addicting!!
Bonnie
I love the curly cues. I never noticed if my Dr's were that symetrical and perfect.
Welcome to DG!
Welcome Hermitess. Your pictures are very pretty. I am about as new to brugs as you. Haven't had any seedlings bloom so am looking forward to this summer. Haven't such neat curlyques, Donna
Welcome to Daves Hermitess
Hi! Here's the doc in all his glory! Well, OK he's just the littlest bit droopy. It was unseasonably hot today and he was thirsty (and showing it) when I got home from work. So he's just starting to perk up in this photo, after a nice drink.
ANYWAY! Thought y'all might want to see what became of the Art Nouveau bud :))
Very dark,nice color!
Scheesh Rooty ! For a moment the picture did not load for me and I thought Hermitess was talking about you ..... LOLOLOL

Oh my...my imagination is going ........
Now, you really have my attention!! LOL!
Boy,I can't hold a candle to that guy,LOL!
But lets see how he is with a compost fork?
I know, you gals would not care if he killed all your plants, would you!!LOL!!
Root: I ran across this earlier today, and thought you might be interested. Its the history of Dr. Seuss. I think I have some mislabeled brugs and started do some research. I think one that I had labeled DS is actually a FP, and vice-versa. They were purchased from ebay, so its gonna be a surprise! Anyway, here is the link:

I would Root ... well maybe not, it depends on his eyes.
ROTFLOL!!!
LOL! You gals are too much!
That is a good link, what a confussing history.
Grrrrrr....hubba-hubba
Every brug bud and flower is a Art noveau! Its fascinating to watch them grow and open. It has not lost its fascination for me in all these years. Dr. Suess is one of my favorites besides CG but I am unable to cultivate them at this time.
