Art Nouveau

Cambria, CA

Hi!
I am new here, and relatively new to brugs (not quite a couple years) and feel kind of out of my league here. So if this is old-hat to y'all please forgive me! But I have never seen a bud do this before! It's a Dr Seuss.

Is this an art nouveau bud or what! :-) The plant has about 6 of these going right now. It has never flowered before, and I have nursed it from a 3" cutting, so I'm really on pins & needles.

Anyway! I think this is just gorgeous. Thanks for letting me share!

Welcome to Dave's.Please post a pic when it opens.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

WELCOME!!! I just love those tendrils. Too beautiful. Do all the 6 buds on this Dr. Seuss do that or did you just luck out with this one? It would be cool to breed this into a brug.

Please do not feel anyone here is out of your league. We all came in at this at a beginners level. Some of us still are there! Not everyone wants to be a total brug nut and just like our family atmosphere in this forum. If you read all the threads and feel free to ask questions, you will soon know what we all know!

Hi! Wow! Thank you all for the welcome!

All the buds on this plant have the curli-cues. Is this really unusual for a Dr Seuss? Could it be that it is not a Dr Seuss?

Here's the thing... I went a little hog-wild on Ebay in autumn 2002 and found myself with dozens of cuttings of various varieties... I guess about 75% of them survived and we've gone from 4" pots to 5 gallon pots in that time! But it's possible a seller mis-labeled, or I did. I didn't know what I was doing, some tags were lost entirely over time (oops). Bottom line, when I say it's a Dr Seuss, I should say it's labeled as a Dr Seuss :-)

Some of my other babies have bloomed, but this is the first Dr Seuss to come this far. I have never seen curls like that before!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Hallo and welcome hermitess. Please post a picture, when the flower has opened.

Cambria, CA

OK today's development! It's not the greatest photo, doesn't do the color justice. But you can see some of the other curly-buds!

P.S. It smells divine!!

Hi! Here's the doc in all his glory! Well, OK he's just the littlest bit droopy. It was unseasonably hot today and he was thirsty (and showing it) when I got home from work. So he's just starting to perk up in this photo, after a nice drink.

ANYWAY! Thought y'all might want to see what became of the Art Nouveau bud :))

Root: I ran across this earlier today, and thought you might be interested. Its the history of Dr. Seuss. I think I have some mislabeled brugs and started do some research. I think one that I had labeled DS is actually a FP, and vice-versa. They were purchased from ebay, so its gonna be a surprise! Anyway, here is the link:

Every brug bud and flower is a Art noveau! Its fascinating to watch them grow and open. It has not lost its fascination for me in all these years. Dr. Suess is one of my favorites besides CG but I am unable to cultivate them at this time.
