When to transplant..??

I have some seeds that sprouted and wondered how long before I plant them in soil. They are in rockwool cubes now.

They can stay in for a while, just give them some fresh air every day by lifting the cover for a half hour and when they get their first set of true leaves start misting them with 1/2 strength MG.
.............Watch your un-sprouted seeds ............if they rot remove them with tweezers or cut out the whole block. You can re-use these RW blocks from the bad seeds........ just take out the rotten seed , soak in 10-1 bleach , drain and put somewhere to dry.

Hunh! well i don't do that but haven't had any problems. the bleaching is a good idea though i was just throwing it away.
After they sprout I give them a couple of days and then put in a 2.5" pot with the bottom filled with soil and take off heat and move to light right away. I don't fertilize for a bit. I have no idea if its true or not but i read somewhere that you aren't suppose to fertilize the seedlings.

Everyone has their own methods that work for them. Here is mine: I remove and plant the rockwool cube and all in a 4" pot as soon as they sprout. Keep them within an inch or two of my light source to prevent legginess. I fertilize them with 1/3 strength Peters 20-20-20...

Seedlings get nutrition from the seed itself but as they grow their true leaves they do need another source of nutrition ie: soil-bourne or added supplements.

Nice picture Gretchen....so green =)

Thanks Scoot! They are very healthy. If I can keep them from frying in the GH, they might end up being nice plants...
