I would love to get some seeds for Plains Coreopsis or other tall varieties of Coreopsis. Any other seeds that I could use to add to a natural area are on my want list as well.
I have a list here at DG and a few more things that I can email you about if anyone is interested.
Wanted Plains Coreopsis or other tall Coreopsis
Hi, saw on your want list that you're looking for currants. Which type? I have black that I could root a stem for you come spring. LMK
Hi Have several unnamed kinds I can send you They are the whole heads(some tiny and some larger but I never figured how to get the seeds out. Also have purple butterfly bush and wood poppy (celandine) from your list. I would take a little of your amaranth and amaranthus . Shirley
Kooger,
Don't you need a "male" and a "female" plant for currants to fruit? Or maybe it was that you needed two plants?
As far as a variety, I want ones that are good eating...
Thanks.
Shirley (Marclay),
I'm interested in a trade and will email you.
Hi Tree-climber. I have seeds of Coreopsis plains for you if you like. There 's a pic of me peeping through the. C. plains on my memberpage. I also have seeds of Buddlea davidii lavender with orange eye. Just give me a mail.
No, you don't need a male and female of the black type. I have just one bush that gets loaded. These make yummy sauce and jam and the birds love them but they are too sour to eat plain off the bush. You need the red or white/yellow varieties for snacking time. :) LMK
Kooger,
Thanks for your kind offer, but I think I am probably looking for the red kind.
Just out of curiosity, how long would it take a cutting to produce fruit? I'm pretty impatient so maybe I should take that off my want list and purchase bushes.
Oh, I'm guessing with these black ones, if I bent a branch down next month, cut it off, planted it later this spring, I would have a small crop next spring. It would be another year before I would have a usable crop. I'd probably let the birds have them the first year. That's what I like about them - no guilt if I don't get them all picked - the birds love them! Actually they get them before I do some years!!! :)
Kooger,
You make them sound so good. I love things that are easy to grow and productive.
I've changed my mind, I'd love to get some cuttings.
okey-dokey! Soon as it's warm enough, I'll get one started for you and for me! The bush is still at MIL house because last year the spring was so wet I couldn't move it. (She went to a retirement apt.) Now I've decided I'll just start a new one and the new owners of the house can do with it what they want. It's about 4-5 feet wide and a lot of work to dig it out!! :)
Thanks Kooger,
I'll wait to hear from you.
