Okay, I'm in

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

First, I'd like to thank the Academy. Oh wait, I mean I'd like to thank roadrunner and justemeLisa! I lurked around here for a while, joined last Dec, then became a full-fledged subscriber in February. Too timid to say hi, roadrunner & justmeLisa encouraged me to jump on in... so here I am! SO glad the server is back up. Not having it available really made me realize how much I already feel connected to this community! Looking forward to making friends, and learning a lot from everyone's collective experiences.

Welcome, Welcome. Welcome !!! (That's one apiece for all three of you Maggiemoo-Mary-Buffy :-) Since you have already spent a little time with us here in the Garden, you already are familiar with the various Forums and Extras, so I'll just get to be among the first to set a place for you at the table here in the Garden. Looking forward to seeing your postings among the threads.

Thanks Ron, I've seen a lot of your friendly posts around. As a newbie, I have a question: What do we do when the weather turns nice and we can start getting out in our gardens again? How can we garden & play here at the same time? I did get a chance to play in my backyard this last Sat, and found myself wishing I had a laptop and wireless connection out there, just to keep checking in. (sigh)

Hi maggiemoo and Welcome. Now I hadn't considered the drawbacks of nice weather and garden season. Oh well, there is always nighttime for keeping up at the Garden, and who needs sleep anyway!

HEy Mary...Glad Lisa and I could urge you on a little...shucks...we were all "newbies" at one time....I think...wasn't Mystic here before we even dreamed about Dave's Garden? LOL As to what to do in the summer? Take LOTS of sweet tea breaks and sit down at the computer!! Jo

Johnston, IA(Zone 5a)

Maggiemoo, I think we should get our gardening done early in the day, that way we have all day to drink sweet tea with friends in our gardens. We can log on to Dave's Garden in the evening when the mosquitoes come out to take over. Of course then if the moonlight is beckoning, it's always nice to stroll through the garden at that time too. :-)
No worries, we'll have time for all our passions this summer.

A favorite little gardening poem says;
"I have a garden of my own,
Shining with flowers of every hue;
I loved it dearly while alone,
but I shall love it more with you."
Thomas Moore

I think sharing our gardens with friends is one of the best parts of gardening.

Elkhart, IA(Zone 5a)

Welcome. Jump right in and enjoy yourself. I'm sure you won't be shy for long. You won't have a chance. LOL!!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Welcome from Oregon. I see you have already figured out that this place can be addictive. As to how to manage garden and computer, I allow myself a little block of time to sit down and see what's new while I drink a big glass of something cold, then go back outside and work until I am too hot, come inside and do it again. I think there are lots of others doing the same thing.

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

Yeah, I guess the cooling off/cool drink breaks will have to do it. I do start early in my garden (it gets very hot, very fast here), but often times will look up and find that it's 4pm and I haven't stopped once, even for a drink! I can see now that DG will help me be healthier, because I WILL remember to take breaks, just to check in with you guys! (I have already discovered that when I'm out there, I'm thinking, "Oh, I'll have to ask someone about this," or, "Ooh, I need to post a picture of that!" etc, etc.)

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)
