Can a seed pod left outside all winter still be good?

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Just found a pod on Kell's Giant Yella plant. Peeled the seeds and they look good. Wonder if they'll germinate? Not that I need to start more seeds- I'm just curious.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You would think they would be mush! try one and see. An experiment!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Try soaking them in HP, then maybe a day in warm water, if by then they haven't turned to mush, think they might be ok. I would try and satrt a couple.

Kristi..YES! Delisa saw a rotten pod of mine, it was gooey and the outsides of the seeds were gooey too. i peeled a couple and the seeds looked good. i have 15 plus up now. didn't peel the rest, just threw them in a pot with some soil on them. i have some rotten looking pods on a couple of plants now, not gonna pick them til i am ready to plant them.
