Anyone want any crabapple seedlings?
They're coming out, so thought I'd see if anyone was interested first.
Postage or trade
Crab Apple
Hi Melissa! I don't have anything on your Trade List, but if I could send postage and cover the cost of mailing materials, I would love to have a little crabapple seedling.
Jean
I'll get some dug up tomorrow Jean, and you can just return postage to me when it comes? OK?
Send me your address.
Melissa
Thank you Melissa! You have mail. -- Jean
I could send postage. I would like to try them here! I grew up with crab apples in MN!
Melissa I would love some for the birds if they like damp ground.
Do you know what kind they are and if they are hardy to z4? Do you get a carpet of seedlings every spring? (My DH will kill me if I get that kind!!) :)
I don't have a carpet of seedlings every year, but I'm having a hard time getting these guys out of the ground. I bought a new shovel, so hopefully.
I have no idea what they're hardy to. This is another plant that my Mother In law bought and planted for me several years ago.
She used to have a ball planting things while Hubby and I were at work ;-)
I haven't forgotten, just broke 2 shovels trying to get them out. :-(
As soon as hubby can get the backhoe into the yard again, I'm going to have him dig out the seedlings with it.
He bought me a new handle for the new shovel I bought to replace the old shovel I broke in the first place. (Confused yet)
And I don't want to break the new handle trying to get these guys out of the ground!
Melissa--- I would love some of the crab apple also--- how about some Minnie pearl daylily or Big Bird daylily--- or autumn red daylily or maybe something else? Tracy
I'd love to have a big bird, I have MinniePearl and Autumn Red. :-)
Melissa Big Bird is yours.... anything else you might like??? Tracy
I'd be interested in one tree too please,if you have any left. Can you do it for postage? Thank you...b
Does anyone have a suggestion to get these things out without destroying them?
I've tried, hubby has tried, but it seems the new trees are growing out of the roots of the old tree, and trying to dig them out is next to impossible without completely tearing up the seedling. It's depressing. I've got probably a hundred seedlings growing under my tree. ranging from 1' to 4'.
Hmmm if that's the case they may not survive. I tried that with my black locust tree and cut them with about 4" of root on each side and they all died.
