oh help help i think i goofed was so tickled
Do they need to be watered? I have had a couple fall over like that when they need a drink. After I watered them they were once again standing within a few hours. If that's not it, then they may have damping off, which is a fungus that is irreversable. Are they just bent over, or does it look like the stalk is shrunken in where they fall over?
the seedlings all laying over tried to walk beg them!!,, the stalks on the cuttings now look not right?? and couple of big leaves fell off.. they are about 6 or 8 in. hight no maybe 10 in.. someone sent them so i could get started months ago..thanks.. this is new by me says old how do you get say yes for new? sorry. do not know much.. thanks
hope43, did you try watering the seedlings which fell over? If they were fine before you transplanted them, then fell over, maybe they were too dry. Or else the timing is a coincidence, and they have damping-off, which is about the end of them. Please post an update!
I don't think your cuttings have SB, probably something more usual. Do you let them dry out a bit before you water them? I find leaves do fall off now and then on mine, otherwise they look healthy. I blame a lot on the dry heat in the house in the winter.
Good luck,
John
thanks i want them to be fine.. the seedlings 3 maybe might try to i tried prooping them up.. 3 are goners think.. i have been watching them.. thanks.. twyla...
Don't know if this is any help. If they are not overwatered, I put a plastic bag over them, just partially, the shock of transplanting and the dry air, if inside, will sometimes make them wilt. Mine perk up in a few days, slowly remove the plastic.
ok try that to thanks so much.. blessings..
They are tough, don't over baby them,I'd let them dry out some, did you water when you transplanted?I know I do.
yes a little water but plopped over.. looks like now 3 might make it.. but going to start more seeds.. i have some coming.. thanks so much.
Maybe they will perk up in a few days, sometimes plants get a little stressed from being repotted.
lost 3 of seedlings for sure i thought i was doing it right getting somewhere. well i will just start some more.. thanks all for your kindness...
Hope, just make sure that you let them get 2-4 leaves before you try to transplant. Even bigger if you can. Stronger seedlings make the move easier.
And Hope, make sure when you remove the seedlings for transplantation that you hold them by the cotyledons (the first set of leaves), not the stem. It is very easy to damage the stem which contains the vascular system to support the plant. If it is crushed, the plant will surely die. If a cotyledon is damaged, the plant can recover.
thanks for this info. i did not touch stem, but scooped whold plant dirt into more dirt. but only 3 of 8 going to survive. but i'm happy if they do. start some more seeds to though.. thanks all for the info.. help.. blessings hope43--twyla
