OK, well it has been 9 months now and they are still hard as rocks and have no interest in being ripe! I have 6 or 8 pods. This is way to long for me to wait!

These are the same pods as above!

Wow Kell! Too Cool! The vulcanola pods are sposed to be wrinkley like that too. WTG Girl :)

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Can't be too much longer before they ripen......can it?

Getting wrinkled from "old age".

Those are taking too long! You need to have a talk with them. Make sure you have a glass of wine in your hand so nobody thinks your strange.

Beautiful bloom! Love the color.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh Kell, I love that bloom. I can't wait to see what your seeds grow (when they get ripe)

LOL Datdog. Good advice.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Looks like the nine months for ripening rule, really does apply here. LOL!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

And it is driving me nuts! I am so afraid they will ripen and drop in 1 day like my Arborea does. If I miss them and lose them I will cry after all this time!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Just like when your pregnant Kell, they come when their good and ready and not a minute sooner! WTG Kell!!!

Have you checked to see if they're ready. Get out the bandaids.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Maybe I should Jeanne. You know I have never slit a pod yet! I am always afraid I will ruin it. You are the expert, what symptoms do they usually show first when ripe?

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Pretty-Nine months to ripen, gosh I didn't know that. I learn things every day.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

How 'bout this Kell, take a panty-hose leg and cut off 8-10 inches, slip it over the pod and attach it to the branch. If they fall off or split, you haven't lost anything. Just a thought.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

That is actually a great idea Linda. I may just do that so I can stop worrying over these!

I have no idea what type flowers these seeds will make. I have no idea of the genes in the backgrounds. However lots of sangs are bicolored and dramatically bicolored. Maybe a dark pink with an bright orange inside? LOL I will name it Psychedelically Seventies!

Maybe Jeanne or Liz would opine here!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Please keep us posted, good luck.

Edited to say "panty-hose is my answer to many problems." I don't wear them much anymore, but I buy the really cheap knee-highs to use as plant-ties, etc.
