Gosh, how much longer am I going to have to wait for brug blooms.....I'm afraid July will be the earliest and that is so long. Hope we can get more new pictures put up here to keep us northerners going until summer. This picture is a couple of years old. Pink Beauty. You can see it doesn't hold up well for me in the heat and wind. It was planted in absolute full sun. Right now I would take one looking just like it though. LOL!!
How much longer...
Shirley, what do you mean, it doesn't hold up well? It looks gorgeous to me.
I think it's beautiful too!! I'm Z5 too. I want to smell ,this smell that everyone talks about. If I had one this size, I would be camped out beneath it!!Mine are just pencil-thin stems with a few leaves. Everytime I look at them, they drop another leaf!! With no greenhouse or even lights and Michigan weather, I probably should have waited until spring to start a new obsession--but then what would I have done all winter! I'm so glad I found Dave's Garden and others with the same obsession!! It's exciting just to see your pictures.Gives me hope!!
Bonnie
They look great to me too!
So Im thinkin here... July to 1st bloom, possibly as early as Sept. for the 1st hard frost.. Gosh! LOL that doesnt leave much time for them to put on a show here!
Shelly, Lori had one in Lakewood and I think she had two or three bloom flushes from hers. It was a Versicolor, but they bloom about the same. I like this one, it just had a tough year with the wind and heat. I'll put it in a pot so it can have half day shade this year. Actually, I made a mistake. It was tagged pink beauty, but I was told it is actually Rosamond. They are so much alike I couldn't tell the difference myself. I gave this plant away and kept cuttings and my cuttings died, but I have it back for this year thanks to a friend.
Well good! Im glad Lori's mom hooked her up! LOL I will just follow in her footsteps!
Thanks Shirley!
I love this color!!!!!
Hang in there Shirley,it won't be long now,my Robin is back,so one more little snow, then it is spring!!
Love it, no matter if it is PB or Rosamond.
Our robins have moved back in also, won't be too much longer.......I hope!!
Haven't seen any Robins here yet. Still have all the winter birds eating me out of house and home. Is bird poo good fertilizer? LOL!
Hi Brugie, I sure hope bird poo is good fertilizer as it is everywhere. I feed more than 2 gal. of wildbird feed every day, plus some wheat. have more than 200 quail and 10 pheasants besides the hundreds of little birds. Love your picture of PB or Rosamond. I hope my PB will somewhat like yours this summer. Surely did enjoy it blooming this winter in my GH. It is through now tho. I feel spring is not far away now here as I too saw a robin in yard yesterday. Donna
Yes, I think bird poo is almost as good as bunny. No offense, Root.
Our birds are on welfare here, have been all winter! It is now time for them to start feeding themselves, we're running out of money for bird feed.
That is really nice, I have never seen a Brugmansia with so many blooms in person. ONly in the catalogs.. That's a really nice pic Brugie.
It will be awhile before I see blooms too Shirley, but I did get to see a Swan out on the pond when I got home. Was a pretty sight ... even though it was snowing.
Shirley, what a beautiful sight seeing your brug pictures. There must be hundreds of blooms on each one. This year you will have many more beauties to show us.
I hope so, but a garden full of swans would be nice too.
LOL Shirley. With having a garden full of swans, you would wish to have your kitty back!
Like the Canadian Geese ... they can get down right fiesty! But they are beautiful to watch gliding through the water .. what little bit that isn't frozen right now. Yah hoo, they say possibly in the 50's by this weekend.
