you know, Janet, that is the weirdest thing! I just went to Mailbox Etc. (UPS store) to mail a very light weight package to Georgia. They told me it would be $9.?? UPS, $5.35 Parcel Post, or $5.85 for Priority Mail. So of course, I selected Priority Mail, but could not understand why something that lightweight would cost more than your sending me two small trees! These trees must be very tiny babies? Just hope they get here with the amount of postage you put on them! :)

Anytime you take your packages to places like Mailbox etc. you are going to pay a mark up. These people are not part of the postal service. They charge a "Convenience Fee" which is added to your postage fee. This is what I was told by my Post Office. Those places are not regulated so the sky is the limit on what they can charge LEGALLY. So its best to take you packages to the US Post Office and stand in line to pay actual postage.
I learned THAT lesson the hard way.
I thank you very much for telling me that. The post office itself isn't THAT much further of a drive. I almost feel like sending the owner of that establishment a little "note" about how I felt about my lightweight package being treated that way. I'll enclose a copy of my receipt to them as well. I found it utter nonsense for the price they wanted me to pay to ship it. Absolute NONSENSE. I will no longer go to a UPS or their affiliate like Mail Boxes ever again! Thanks for the heads up!
