I grow this plant, it was given to my by Juan Chahinian, who discovered and described this plant.
This one of the must unusual species of San. and very distinctive have four inch leaves that are grooved, and about 1/2 in. length with a sharp pint that is redish brown. The leaves overlap and spirel around each other forming five distinct rows. It is medium green showing tiny pin dots but no stripes in the pattern. I can count more or less 5 longitudial grooves. New stolen emerge between the leaves.
My plant is 8 yrs old and only 8" tall. I understand when it grow larger it may fall over from the weight from the new stolen growth. The pictures are in my camera at this time and if I can figure out how to get them into the PC they will be on their way for you to view. Your plant grows like a S. grcilis, but I not sure, I can't touch it, and I can't see what it is coming out of. I don't have any leaf measurments or description.
I would need ti thoroughly described. Norma

I don't believe your San. francisii, is the same as mine. S. francisii has to 40, Lvs. spiralled in 5 rows, cylindrical with a groove on the upper face for 1/4" to 3/4" the length 8-15 cm long and narrowed gradually to a 5 mm acute Sp. like tip.
Mine was a field collected clone in 1986 . This one came form Garsen, Kenya, Coast Prov. Horwood 432 The books do not list any other clones. The edges of mine has a white edge on the basal 1/2 the Bra are triangler, more or less 6 x 3 mm

Make sure you go all the way down to the bottom of the picture when it comes up. I have been trying to send this for 2 days now, have been in tears, I'm so frustrated about doing this. I had to call in the next door neighbor, he just turned 8.

Now I don't think my plant is francisii. Here's a photo of my other plant which looks much more like yours.
