Another great site for information is http://www.brugmansias.org/ With your membership, you can choose 3 crosses of seeds every quarter.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Brommom, I would advise you to start with cuttings first. With seeds, you may have to wait more than one growing season to see blooms. Plus, if you want to see a particular color bloom, cuttings are identical to the plant from which it was taken, while seeds usually differ from the mother plant.

I have a few rooted cuttings that I would be glad to send you if you would reimburse me for postage.

A couple of sources that I can recommend as suppliers for cuttings are Country Gardens (www.countrygdn.com) and Logees (www.logees.com). Calas Tropicals is also wonderful, but I don't believe that she has cuttings available right now as she just moved.

Anyway, if you would like me to send you a couple of rooted cuttings, email me. nathalyn

I could also send you a few cuttings to get started. I would also like to note that there is another brugmansia site that is operated by a valued member of DG's. It is just another place to check out the many beautiful brugs available by some of our members. I do know that she sends great plants.

Nat is the best : ). And my new babies are still doing great, just waiting for warm weather to really start to grow.

DO NOT be afraid to ask questions here whenever your in doubt or just wonderin.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks DC, I'm glad to hear that your babies are doing fine. Once it warms up a bit (I know, you're wondering if it's EVER going to warm up), you will be amazed at how your brug babies respond. It has been marginally warmer here the last couple of weeks, and I can already tell a difference in the brugs that are in the garage. Soon, it will be time to move the ones dormant in the basement and revive them from their winter's sleep. Nat

What size of pot do you start with for a brugs cutting? Can you plant them directly in the ground for summer?
Teresa

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Teresa, I usually start small cuttings in 4 inch pots and move them up in size as they grow. And yes, they can be planted directly in the ground. In fact, most will grow larger in the ground than in a pot - - and you don't have to worry with watering as often.

Thanks for the info. I have been watching the posts and trying to pickup new info.
Nat will you be coming to the Nashville Garden Show?
Teresa

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Teresa, I plan on going to Bowling Green March 6-7. If they were both the same weekend, I'll see if I can beg off a day from work and make it a long weekend. Exactly when is the show and where? nat

Cindy,
Do you need cuttings from me or are you taken care of already? If you would like a couple, please email me your address as I will be going to the post office on Monday. Thanks, Nat
