Tillandsias from seeds.

Lappeenranta, Finland(Zone 3a)

I brought some Tillandsias from Florida. And on of them had a seedpod. It opened, and I collected the seeds. They look fine.
Now I need some tips how to germinate them? I have never tried Tillandsias from seeds before

Here is the seedpod.

Mitjo, that is a really good queston for an air plant. Did you take a picture of the parent plant? Could we see it?

I was succesful on germinating Vriesea (which has the same seed type as Tillandsia) by just sowing it over a fern fiber medium. I put it in a transparent plastic pot and closed it with plastic. I made sure the medium was moisty before closing, of course. So I had a mini greenhouse. I protected it from direct sun light. When the plantlets are stabilished, with a few leaves, you can pick them up, along with the medium and plant it on small individual containers.

There are a few articles on the Florida Council's website.

Look under Bromeliad Information, and scroll down to the Growing from Seed section. (I think the article by Dimmitt is quite helpful.)

Monocromatico. Thanks for the tips:) What all things you had in the soil?

Thanks Keyring, I will look that up.

I just had fiber. Moisty tree fern fiber, thatīs all. No fertilizers. These are air plants, and the roots arenīt really useful on feeding the plant. As the leaves develope, it will get nutrients from the air by itself.
