I bought one gourd last year and thought I could save the seeds to plant, alas, they're petrified! Does anyone have seeds to trade from their 2003 seed harvest? I have many seeds to trade, let me know what you're looking for!
Thanks,
Sandy
Looking for Turtle Gourd (Maranka/Dolphin/Dinosaur) Seeds
Sandy,
The mirankas that I grew did not mature for me to get seed (we got a frost before they could and the vine died). But, the seed you have may still germinate, file the side of it and soak it overnight, then try to germinate it either via the papertowel method or plant it in a little paper cup in some potting soil, if you have a heating mat, use that. Some times the seeds have to be worked a little, some do look petrified..lol.. depending on how long the gourd has been around. Good luck, also try posting this in the Gourd and Squash forum. They may have some. Antoinette
Hi Seedsower,
With a pair of scissors, cut a few of the seeds
in half. You should see what looks like a healthy
sunflower-nut type of seed inside.
If they don't look good, let me know and I'll
be happy to trade you for some Maranka gourd seeds.
:-) Wuvie
PS Love lots of things to trade...
Daylily, Toad Lily, Hollyhocks....etc.
