I just got this today, isn't it pretty?
Jatropa
You must be in Hog heaven!! (what IS hog heaven anyway??) So pretty!
Very pretty Susie. Is that a vine?
soooo pretty.....
just beautiful....
shelly221...hog heaven is in my back yard, just ask my pet pig,Hambone, he thinks he is in heaven here..lol..spoiled rotten thing he is.
Now, that is my kind of color. I love red. Very pretty Susie.
Deb, it's a bush. I saw one in a garden and had to have one.
Are there different kinds? Colors?
That is a pretty one! I can see you are truly in your element down there and taking true advantage of the better weather. How long til we get to see huge bananas and brugs?? ;)
Chele, I saw huge banana trees right down the road from me yesterday. They were loaded with bunches of bananas. They had star fruit ripening and surinam cherries too. I got three golden passion fruits. I'm going to plant the seeds.
My bananas and brugs are recovering from the bad weather on the way down here, have buds on Tiara and Pure Love that should open soon. I'll post pictures as soon as they look decent enough to show. My Constance Elliot passiflora is loaded with buds, I was so surprised at how fast it recovered!
Oh I like. I bet you are having all a ball with all the new plants you can grow there.
I am Peggy, now if I could find a place here that has a good selection of ears and gingers. I need to replace some I lost in the move. I think they just got too cold, or maybe were too damp when I packed them.
I found a nursery here that has a huge selection of clumping bamboo, only one problem....they are in HUGE clumps, would take a backhoe to plant them. I think they have about 40 different ones...blue, black, green, golden, buddas belly, some with stripes around the stem...all kinds. I'm trying to talk the owner into starting me some little plants(3 or 5 gallon size), he said he will if he gets around to it.
You are a lucky girl Cala!!!
It looks sImilar to a begonia to me! They get huge here. big bushes!
That sure is Knock your eyes out RED!
Wonder if cuttings would root?
Beautiful plant, Susie. I'm so jealous that you can grow all these neat plants there.
Susie, you would not be you if you didn't try cuttings. lol
That is a very beautiful plant. Do you know what the name of it is?
Susie mine puts out seed pod.
Woo, Jatropha! Jatrophas are weedy here, but I wouldn't mind having them in my yard.
Actually, I wouldn't mind having a yard either. :^P
duh - if I would have looked at the title of the thread................. I was real tired when I was on here last night, after a late shift at work. :)
Mine is the most common, I guess:

Monocromatico, I think they are weedy here too! I'm seeing them everywhere now. I've noticed that the red one I posted above also comes with both a cut leaf and an uncut leaf. Are they the same or different varieties? I might have to take a picture so you'll know what I mean.
