Now the Agave verschaffeltii is a separate entry in PlantFile. So i think it is also Agave verschaffeltii.

Do you agree?

I personally don't know how to tell the difference since A potatorum is such an incredibly varible species.

Agave potatorum var. verschaffeltii is a separate plant.
I have these 2 plants, and i have seen that these are totally different.
Agave potatorum is a big rosset and the marginal spines are more then other one,and is very compacted.
Agave potatorum var. verschaffeltii is a medium sized plant and also bloom early.and the marginal spines are big.

Here are the references.

hm... first link just gives me a name, second didn't work, and third shows me a plant with very small marginal spines.. am certainly not convinced, but I don't disagree, either. I just can't tell.
