This may only be funny to me, but when my daughter was little we had an old dog that was an outside dog. She welcomed and "took care of" every new addition to the family, and taught the babies not to go into the street by pulling them back by their cloth diapers. She was a wonderful dog, but that is not my story.
When my daughter was preschool she loved to play outside. She asked one rainy day if she could go out and play. I told her that when the rain stopped I would let her go out but she was not to sit on the steps because they were wet but I would dry off the swing set for her to sit upon. After the rain stopped she went out and sat on a swing. But when I looked out 10 minutes later she was sitting on the step, with her arm around our cocker spaniel , her mouth going a mile a minute as she talked and talked to the dog.
I opened the door and sternly told her that I had told her NOT to sit on the step and that I didn't appreciate her getting her slacks and her panties wet ......... She turned away and said to the dog.."See what I mean?!"
