Perfection...congratulations!

Thanks, Susan. These blooms just facinate me. The curves are so pleasing to see as the bloom unfolds and the bloom provides different shapes from different angles.

I just want to say that this flower looks like art work, so simple, so beautiful.

I totally agree with you. What wonderful gifts we have been given to enjoy and to inspire us. Thank you for your comment.

I agree about the art work. Georgia O'Keefe would love to paint that one. It almost looks like a painting as is.

When I first saw the photo, the bloom almost did not look real. Thanks for your comment.

I, too, immediately thought of Georgia O'Keefe's sensuous paintings. And the white color is so seductive. Lovely photography, Hazel.

Thanks, Pat. when I view the blooms, a sense of tranquility always comes over me and I am in awe of their beauty. I have taken many photos of them at different angles and with various lighting.

I got a bunch of these at a thrift store. Everything I read says they dont grow here (near Seattle) but mine are growing & bloomed. Are they not Calla Lilies? If not, then what are they? Has anyone else grown them here in Washington state?

It is a calla lily. If grown in the ground, you need to heavily mulch them in the winter. You may also dig them up and pot them and keep them in a protected area until spring. You can then replant them outside. The rhizomes may also be dug, cleaned and stored during the winter in vermiculite. One of the concerns in the Seattle area is that they if they are in the ground, they may receive too much moisture during the winter and the rhizomes may rot. If they are in containers, in November and through February, water should be restricted to let the rhizomes rest. I hope that someone who lives in your area and has grown these will be able to provide you with more information. It might be a good idea to post your question about growing them in the Pacific Northwest fGardening forum:
