Looking for trade!

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

Hi all, well despite my efforts to save the water lettuce and water hyacinth, I failed! Mush city. I kinda knew this going in, but I had to try! :) Ponditis, the other stuff came through swimmingly, thanks for your tips!!

I am looking for some water lettuce and hyacinth this spring. I'm not sure I can the buy them here. What I have to offer is rooted Honeysuckle Vine, Lonicera Serotina. It is fragrant, two toned purple and pink, and can grow to 9 feet, and can grow to zone 3. I've got them in small containers now and they are putting on growth in the greenhouse.

Can do postage too....................

Thanks for looking! Sue

Sue, Where are you? I am growing water lettuce all the time in my stillwater "vase" When it gets big enough, I put it in my regular pond for the goldfish to snack on. I took them from a canal which feeds to Lake Okeechobee. I can get more anytime I like. Let me know when you would like me to send some. Do you have anything else to trade other than honeysuckle vine? LMK

Thanks,
Molly

Sue, I'm also in Seattel, WA and for years I was over wintering my water lettuce and hyacinth in an aquarium in the basement......but I found a marvelous and 'cheapish' place to just buy them. Oasis Water Gardens in Georgetown.
Checkout their web site. I have also seen these at Flower World in Woodenville, McLendons hardware in Renton, and Swanson Nursery in Ballard.

Really? :-D

I was under the impression that we can't get hyacinth here in WA? Oh, how I love Flower World. But I will check McLendon's, I'm close to them. Thanks for the info!

Hyacinth is non-invasive here becouse of our frosts...won't live in the lakes and waterways any better than it lives in our ponds during the winter :-)
Now remember none of the places I've mentioned will have any till weather warms a bit more.
Let me know if you have any trouble find some come Spring and I'll see what I can do to help.
