Sausage Tree

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

These are ugly trees in the winter, but have long stalks of beautiful(but stinky) red flowers. They get their name from the gourd like seed pods that look like sausages. Across the fence is an orchid tree, some papayas, royal poinciana and a washingtonia palm.

Susie, I fell in love with this tree when I was in Miami. I tried climbing the tree, located in the town square, to get seeds, but they were just too high. If yours produces baby trees, I would like to trade for some. I hope all is going well for you.

Kay, if it blooms and makes seeds, I'll save you some. Wonder if I could root a sprout off of it? Before I knew what it was, I cut two big pieces off.
Things are going great, though it's chilly today.
