Can they be grown in large rockwool cubes?
Has anyone tried this?
Lilies in rock wool?
I'm not sure what rock wool is? Lilies will grow bare root or in practically anything. I found that they do the best planted in heavy garden dirt with LOTS of fertilizer.
Rockwool is something that is used in Hydroponics...its a fiber that is almost like fiberglass but its not.I figured it would be a good thing to grow water plants in and eliminate the dirt that would end up in the pond......If you look in the Brugmansia forum and propagation forum there are links on rockwool, many of us have been starting our seedlings in it.......they sell it in large blocks so I may try it with some of my lilies......
Try it CC, and let us know what happens. It seems like it would be MUCH easier to deal with than soil! I'd test it first in a bucket to see if what floats out of it. If the little fiber particles float around in the water it may possibly be hazzardous to fish or pumps. I wonder if it would be too light and want to float around?
Just think how easy lilies would be if they'd grow in it!
