Hi folks - in a way, it's like a race. We were all off to a great start, enthusiastic, excited. Now it's the middle of the race - and harder to stay focused.
Wishing everyone the best!
My tactics -
Salads at lunch - continuing with the tuna salad and chef salads at lunch. These are truly my saviors that help me ignore the vending machines (I even went to one with a dollar yesterday and when I didn't find anything low carb, I was able to just walk away).
More water - I have my half gallon jug with sliced oranges at home and I keep refreshing the water as I get a glass. It just makes water so tasty, it's subtle, but cold and citrusy. I'm continuing to drink big glasses of water at work.
Minimal caffeine - I drink one cup of regular coffee in the morning and any coffee later that day must be decaf, but I try to opt for water.
I did terribly in Ireland, eating out daily, but was able to get back into routine when I got back, no big splurging. Does anyone have any sites or information on how to eat well while traveling? I've done some reading up, but nothing is really GRABBING me as something that I know will work. My concern here, if I do get this job, I'll probably be traveling a week a month and while I have learned to do OK when in a routine, travel always throws me off. But, then, maybe if travel becomes part of the routine then I'll create coping mechanisms.
What is everyone else able to do to keep going?
Wednesday, February 4, 2004 - the marathon continues
