Spring Plant Swap May 22

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

I guess I'd better get going on this, winter is going by fast. This will be my first plant swap, flying by the seat of my pants here. If anyone is interested in attending this plant swap the date will be May 22nd. The place will be the Railroad Supervisors Club in Baden, Beaver County Pa, Western PA. There will be no cost for renting this club, my husband is the President, thanks Ross! I have had a few suggestions about a starting time, so I have decided to start the spring swap at Noon until ?, so if people are traveling they will have time to get here.
This swap will be for anything gardening, seeds, garden gadgets, plants, anything related to gardening we can trade. If anyone has any Ideas, please let me know. I think we should have some kind of food, maybe everyone can bring a covered dish.

Now about the trading we are going to have to make lists of what we have, what we are looking for and post them for everyone thats interested in attending the swap. Or we can just bring what we have to trade and go at it. Let me know what you think.

I will have my husband make up a map with directions and email it to everyone interested in coming. Please feel free to give suggestions for this swap. If your interested in coming please post or email me. This is a big building with a lot of parking so feel free to invite friends and family. Kid are welcome also. If your on another forum and there's people you know that might like to come let them know.

Just a hint, you may want to post regarding this swap on the "Round Up Forum". Sounds like it could turn out to be quite an event!

Western, PA(Zone 6a)

Count me in! The date is on the calender. I am thinking of divisions, winter sow (cross the fingers), and some under the light plants. All will be, by then, mature and with ample roots.

If you know cbrandenburg, you know she is very organized; very easy to talk with. Yes, quite an interesting swap is forming.

Let's send cbrandenburg our thoughts and ideas!

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the information, I did post it on the round up forum. Thanks Gold Dog, I have been doing the same, walked around my gardens today, snow up to the top of my boots. I guess I'll have to wait awhile to get a list going with out door plant. I do have several flats that I winter sown and several seedlings growing in the basement. I will have a lot of datura seedlings, they are growing nicely. Cathy

Hey fellow Western Pennsylvanians! Just got a note from Smilin32 informin be 'bout yer upcomin plant swap CB. (May I call ya "CB"? Sounds kinda neat, reminds me of the good ol' cb mobile radio craze of the 70's)

I'm definately interested in comin to this!
But since there's snow "up to the top of my boots" here too, I'll also have to wait on gettin my plant list goin.

Great, welcome TC, and yes you can call me CB, I remember the 70's well myself. I am getting several private emails about the swap, so far 11 people expressing interest in coming. This is my first swap so I'm going to do the very best that I can, with a little help from my friends. What kind of plants interest you? I have several hosta, daylilies and grasses, tall and short. All need divided in the spring. I'm also going to clean out a large perennial bed because I want to plant all my brug seedling's in this garden. When this snow melts I will get my list going.

CB, I love hostas! I have several named varieties and I'm always lookin to add to my hosta garden.
I just started growin brugs last summer, so I love them now too. And I started a new daylily bed last season.
Just about all plants and flowers hold my interest, it'd be hard to narrow the list down to just a few.
I know I have some perennials that need dividin, so I'll have plenty of plants to bring to the swap.
And, of course, I have all kinds of seeds!

TC, what kind of brugs do you have? I will have rooted cutting for the swap, well they will be planted in gallon pots for the swap. I have Frosty Pink, Versicolor peach, Dr. Seuss and Charles Grimaldi that I can trade and I have a unknow that was given to me last year that never bloomed. Hosta I will have several named and same with the daylilies plus many perennial plants. This is going to be fun!

I know one lady is giving up her hosta's, she told me last year with all the rain was to much for her. She have a lot of beautiful hosta. The only one I can remember she told me was Hosta Little Sun Spot, we talk about so many plants, but I remember that one because I don't have it. I will list all there have's and want's for them when they get there lists ready.

So we are to make 'have and wish' lists?

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Sure, if your ready to do that. I was just remembering some of the plants that I have. I have one in mind for you also Golddog. I have you down for a Honey Comb Butterfly Bush and one for Davena. I emailed Davena, she's coming and seems to be excited. Let me know if you see anything your interested in. You know me, I have lots to go around. I have so many more plants to list, but this darn snow just don't seem to want to melt. Most of those large hosta you saw in my garen are going to be divided so I'll have a lot of them to go around. Cathy

Mercer, PA(Zone 5a)

Mornin CB,

I've put those of mine you're interested in on a list.
I don't think I'll add a list here of what I'm interested in, I'm afraid it'd be to long! ;~)

I'll just wait till I'm at the swap and make my list as I "shop at the swap!"
