My Arborea is about to bloom.....
YYYYEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
but ,there is only one bloom.....
Can I pollinate it with its own pollen?
Or does it need another arborea bloom?
Anybody got any sang pollen?
Arborea question
CC, I self pollinated my first and only bloom last winter and it took just fine.
YES!!!
Thanks Sue,I thought so but I'm such an air head I forget these things......
It does have more small buds on it but this is my first...
I'm a Arborea virgin........giggle.....
You are going to love it and the smell is something else. I didn't have any luck getting pods to set on mine, but it was either 110 in the shade or really cold when mine bloomed. I hope yours takes Karyn. They would mature just at the right time to plant next fall. I'm excited for you!!
AllRight CC!!!!You will love it!!!I was at Brugies when hers bloomed,I feel in love with this Brug!!!!
Fantastic smell!!!
I can't wait....I keep running out there like I've never seen a brug bloom before....LOL
I know,I just had to go look at Maja,I think my cross took, seems to be a slight swelling.;0)
i have only seen pictures so i want mine to go go bloom..
Whats the big juicy one behind it?
Ya know root,I keep looking at it,it says Dr D.....but it has NO tendrils......
Nother question....
Does arborea cross with versicolors?
Its open and that one tiny bloom smells better than any other brug in that GH....
I think that if I was told I could only keep one brug that would be the one.....
Arborea won't cross with Versi's Karyn. Isn't that fragrance awesome?
so it can only cross with sangs and themselves ,huh?
I can't get over the scent.....awesome.......
Sangs, flava, and vulcanola...
WOW! Got to get me one! I have a supposedly pink Vulcanicola. Wonder if they can be crossed?
I'm with you CC,I'd keep it,if I could only have one!
Isn't it just awesome!!!Does the plant itself smell too,I mean the green parts?I have been noticing how the green of the plants smell,I never noticed till I smelled Brugies.
Now I do notice, when I got a box of cuttings from DonnaB,they had the great smell.I have swapped from MG to Peters, and I am getting better plant smell.
LOL!!!Just sitting here thinking about all of you going to your plants to smell them now!LOL!!!

You are right...I headed right to the family room and my Arborea has a strong leaf smell. The only one close to it is Pink Beauty, but it isn't as strong. Okay, I couldn't resist. It's all your fault Bob.
I love the fragrance of B. arborea. I had once a nice B. arborea alley tree but composted it because every year, he was loaded with pods as big as apples and dropped them, when they were ripe. It was a real mess when I didnt see and stepped on them. I replaced it with a shrub. Today,
I regret, that I didnt keep the tree.
How exciting CC! Congratulations on nuturing this arborea!
Thats it!I'm taking my tent and camping by Monikas compost pile!!!!!!
Well shoot...I'm just trying to get mine to set one pod and it doesn't seem to happen for me.
Shirley, B. arboreas raised out of Engelsglöckchen seeds, which is a selection out of this species, have less pods than the original species.
Gee Monika, you are so tough! No wonder your brugs look so incredible. They all can see the compost pile just waiting for them to misbehave! LOL
Sometimes kell, only sometimes LOL! At the moment, I am searching for B. arborea seeds without Engelsglöckchen influence.
I'm gunna try to get it to set a pod but not holding my breath.....
It does have more buds on it so maybe it will later
Whats the difference in the Engelsglöckchen plants and how do you know the difference?
Engelsglöckchen has larger flowers as the common B. arborea, its fragrance is stronger, reminds me of soap while the fragrance of the common B. arborea is very sweet. Engelsglöckchen has weaker branches, at first, the branches spread sideways and then do hang down. Many B x flavas, which had Engelsglöckchen either as motherplant ot pollinator, have the same growth.
