Creamy Lime Sherbert

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

I found this recipe in Taste of Home today. I just had to try it and it was great. Just imagine the variations you could do with this.

1 3oz. pkg. lime gelatin
1 C boiling water
1-1/4 C. sugar
1 can 6oz. frozen limeade
dash of salt
1 quart milk
1 pint half and half cream
8 drops of green food coloring (optional)

In a large bowl, dissolve gelatin in water. Add sugar, limeade and salt;mix until sugar is dissolved. Add remaining ingredients; blend well. Freeze in an ice cream freezer according to manufacturer's directions. Yields about 2 quarts.

I used a hand crank ice cream maker and doubled the recipe.
