Is this what I think it is..?

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Is this a baby bloom? WillowWasp and I were hanging out today looking at her brugs when I noticed this....the plant is "Ollie" - from poppysue.

Nice pics! What camera did you use?

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

She has a brand new Nikon, she just got and she was showing it off at my house .....she say's, Mom this thing takes really, really close up, very fine detail......so,OK show me..........LOL.......guess she did....
Great Pictures......
Now for the names and the credit.....
Second picture is Tequila Sunrise, from Catsmeow (David). It has lots of buds all about the same size and some a little smaller.

Had 3 blooms (have several more now) on the Cypress Gardens I got from him that were about 2-3 inches long, they dropped off yesterday or day before....Have blooms on just about everything, Versi Peach, Isabella X Butterfly, Coconut, Kyles Giant White, they are just not sticking right now. But one day I will walk out and there they will be....just have to be patient....
Weather here is cold one day and hot the next so I guess that has a lot to do with it..went from almost high of 72 to low 33 the day before then night before last it frosted and was about 30 degrees, suppose to be in the 50-60 range today...ho hum, tipicle Texas winter.....But when this weather breaks we are going to explode with blooms around here....

OOOOO your so lucky!! I keep looking for those on mine. Trying so hard to be patient.

Dee, the weather has been very warm at times in our area. I have buds that are coming out now also. We still have Feb. to go and you know that we can get those couple days of a hard freeze. The brugs in our area just don't know what to do because the heat and then all of a sudden it is cold. Even the forecasters are wrong sometimes and it gets colder during the night than what they say.

The camera sure does take excellent close up shots. I have been thinking about another camera because mine is 3 years old but have not made a decision yet. Getting great close ups is top on my list of things that I want in a camera.

Congratulations Dee!!! That is so exciting!!! I'm doing the Happy Dance for you :)

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Gretchen you will wear yourself out, I have so many buds that are coming on now....I am so excited about the next couple of months.....

I know you are right BragNanny, I don't always go by what is forecast cause I have been caught before and lost plants.....
Feb can be wicked with warm and cold spells so I will be careful and put stuff up when I need to....
I did have one get frost burned night before last but it will be alright (forcast was 37, it got down to 30). It was overlooked when we were getting the bigger stuff back in.....one of the smaller brugs....but no less important, I just didn't see it, but the frost did.
..... It is already showing some new growth so it will be good as new in no time....

BrugNanny - check out this link...has some great info.

Getting macro shots was the main reason I bought a new one. It can get closer than this but I just need to get a steady hand to go with it now....

Wow...she showed me this right after she took it but I could'nt see the detail like I can in the close up...That is a really good camera.....
The Lady bug is on Red Butterfly Weed, I have the Yellow beside it and noticed some of the prettiest bright yellow butterflies on it....wish I had that camera then....LOL

Which Nikon is it Moonlighting? Poppysue has a Nikon and it takes the best pics i have seen! My new Canon G5 is not so great!! So I borrowed my son's new Canon Powershot S400 and I am not that impressed with that either. So I am returning mine and am going to try a Nikon coolpix. I may end up with 2 different cameras to do all I want.

The reason I did not get the Nikon before is because the reviews all said it does not take good night pics. And I like to take night pics.

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Kell - It is a Nikon coolpix 885...I have to admit that during my research my mind kept straying back to Nikon because of the picture quality and the size of the camera, mine is smaller than poppy's I think, not for sure what she has tho....and I am EXTREMELY happy with my choice - problem is that most of the reviews are made by those who don't explore all the settings on a camera, you can get this idea because they try multiple cameras over a period of time, they don't get to "know" the one camera, because let me tell you there are tons of settings on this camera for all situations...

Try doing a search on "Nikon photo galleries" - these are done by professional photographers (no lenses involved) who know how to handle the settings on the camera and see if getting what you want is possible.

I will try doing some "night" pictures for you and post them...

Hope this helps....

Gee thanks! I like it when the back is black and only the flower shows up.

Can't go outside right now - raining.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Mine is the Nikon Coolpix 2500... a cheapie. Night pictures aren't too bad but I need a flashlight or some kind of light to see what I'm focusing on.

Great picture Sue - and you have a black background too!...

Kell - does your camera have some kind of light on it to see the picture before you snap it?
